All I can think of is my lipstick

Smudged on your face

Red and smeared like warpaint

Like tribal markings claiming

This man as my own… nature boy…

Sweet syrupy love affair

Lips locked in unison playing

Tonsil hockey in the back of a car

Back of a room…

Back of my mind reeling

Like old film feeding through my memory

Like an old film on repeat...

How cliché am I?

Referencing the things that seem

Slightly more poetic than I could

Ever be off of the page…

Feet dizzying me from dancing in the

Living room because “He likes me!!!”

Oh the stupid joys of the human girl

When you're wearing a thong at 2 pm

Vacuuming the house for the third time

This week with curlers in your hair and

A business call on the other end of the

Telephone conversation.

Painting in the kitchen to hang paintings

In their kitchens,

Getting ink on my fingers while I'm

Imagining my fingers doing very much else.

Slip of the mind…

Slips off of the page and into my mouth

Once again my libido rises and falls

Like the rhythm of my breath

Though it stays high most of the time

As my breath catches in my chest --

around you--

Hot and bothered little girl

Who bothers too much to keep her skirt down…

Oh have I said too much?

The rule of thumb is to not kiss and tell

But how hard is it to keep your mouth shut

When you want to keep it wide open

A show of tongue, tongue in cheek?

Like a little girl sticking her tongue out at you
