Adam looked at the man in front of him. He looked just as he did before his death. Fear clutched his heart as his grandfather opened his mouth. The man tried to say something to him but all that came out was static. After setting aside his fear, Adam asked him. "What?" the man tried to speak yet 0again but only the sound of static came out. However, Adam could make out a two words, "Sixth Door". Before Adam could speak again, he heard a pair of soft footsteps approach from behind. He turned around only for the darkness to overtake his consciousness.

Adam woke up with a start. He was back in the bedroom. He looked around and so nothing out of the ordinary. "Was that a dream?" he thought as he climbed out of the bed. He briskly walked into the living room. There were no signs of entry and nothing seemed amiss. Concluding that it was only a dream, he let out a sigh of relief.
Yet something about that dream unnerved him. There was a small feeling nagging at the back of his mind. He decided to explore the house as he was unable to do so yesterday. Despite the size of the house there wasn't anything much in it. According Miriam, there have been several instances where people have trespassed into the house in search of the supposed ghost. As such, Miriam had most of the valuables taken to a storage unit for safekeeping.
As Adam looked through the house, he couldn't help but mentally count the doors in this house. The house had two bedroom, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a basement which is accessible through a doors. Including the backdoor and the front door, that made 8 doors. So what was the "sixth" door exactly? Was it perhaps just a bad dream due to the sudden move? Thats what Adam wanted to say. But some part of him is still uncomfortable with this.
The sounds of trucks shook him out of his thoughts as he looked outside. It seems that the rest of his belongings have arrived. After putting on a decent attire, he went outside as the movers walked towards the house. After signing a few papers, they began moving the furtitures inside. He didn't bring much. Just his computer and gaming chair as well as his TV and router. He had planned on buying new chairs if it was necessary. The movers helped him set up before leaving.
Not long after that he received a notification saying that his new card was approved and the he could receive it from the local bank. After locking the house, he walked to Miriams house which was a stones throw from his. As he knocked on the door, she greeted him while wearing an apron and invited him inside. She had offered to accompany him to bank and to a local contractors in order to start fixing up the house which Adam took.
After their meal the two of them got inside Miriams car and drove into the central district. Unlike the suburbs, the central district looked much more like a city, with high rising buildings and popular fast food chains etc.
Miriam did her best to help Adam get acquainted with local landmarks. They eventually reached the bank where Adam was able to get his card without much issues.
Their next destination was the contractors. After driving for a few more minutes, they came up to a simple building belonging to the contractors. The transaction went through with no issues and they said they would bring a few people to fix up the house in the afternoon.
After all was said and done, Adam once again entered Miriams car. They drove a few minutes before Miriam spoke. "You know, if you want we can get some of your grandfather's stuff from the storage." Adam thought about it briefly before muttering "sure". Miriam then began driving towards Eastern side of the town. Around half an hour later, they came up to a to a series of buildings. She stopped the car at near a shutter with the number 34 on it and got out. Adam followed behind as she took a key and began unlocking it.
Upon entering, Adam was met with around 2 cubic meters worth of boxes, most belonging to his grandfather. Since Miriams car couldn't fit all of them, Adam opted to take only one of the boxes. He would return for the rest later when we was more settled in.
The rest of the day went by in a blur. Adam helped the contractors make some repairs, mainly the locks, broken windows before they left. After a hearty meal at Miriams House, he started his computer and began playing a game.
He had managed to complete 3 matches when he remembered the box he brought from the storage. He took a small Swiss army knife and cut the tape before opening it. The box was filled to the brim with books. Adam felt a headache incoming as he read through the titles. Some of them had titles so long that he momentarily thought somebody wrote the prologue on the cover by mistake. While others were written in an entirely different language altogether.
Eventually, he found a unmarked book bound in a black leather cover. He opened it to find that it is a journal. A journal writen with his grandfather's handwriting. Curious, he turned to the first page of the journal and began reading.

June 10 1955
I met a girl named Katherine today. She was the daughter of the new pastor. We sat together during her father's sermon. She wore a long black dress and had a red scarf around her neck. I couldn't help but sneak a peek every now and then. God she was beautiful. I don't think I have seen a more beautiful woman even in my dreams.

Adam couldn't help but cringe at his grandfather's words. A quick calculation in his head determined that his grandfather should have been only around 12 years at this point. He shook his head as he thought of his grandfather who was always stoic and disciplined gushing about a girl like this. Adam then continued reading. Most of the entries were about the girl named Katherine. He made a point to skip through such entries until he turned a page to find several pages missing. Based on the torn parts in the spine, someone had ripped out the pages.
The only entry remaining was the last one dated October 13 1964. It read:
********************
It has been done. I left the last remaining memories of my sins behind the sixth door. I pray that me and kin will not see the day when door is opened. Forgive me my dear Katherine but I pray that neither me nor my descendants will cross paths with you again. And I pray that they won't make the same mistakes as I did. There was a time I was prepared to do anything for you dear Katherine. But I am no longer that person. I have hidden the rest of my work somewhere safe.... Some where you will never find it.

What followed that was a small circular insignia with keyhole on it.
