SELFISH THOUGHTS

SERAPHINA STIRS AWAKE DUE TO THE INCESSANT SOFT SCRATCHING AT HER CHEEKS PAIRED WITH THE BARELY AUDIBLE PURRING. A smile sluggishly makes its way to her face as her eyes flutter open. Attor bumps his head softly against her neck which prompts a fit of giggles. "Attor," she calls for him to stop his childish actions. He moves his scaley head into her line of sight cocking his head to the side in a cute manner. She rolls her eyes as he tries to play coy and keep a sense of innocence
She playfully hits his colorful side as Attor grumbles and softly hits her. They begin a childish tussle on her bed until a faint knocking sound reaches their ears. Both Attor's and Seraphina's eyes shoot to the door as it casually opens revealing one of her maids. Lilac suppresses a chuckle at the sight of her mistress and dragon in the middle of one of their many altercations. "Ma'am breakfast is almost ready, please come down."
Soraya nods gratefully and waves her off, gesturing to close the door. Lilac bows before closing the door she once used to enter the vast bedroom. Soraya pats the big animal so she will be able to leave her bedding. Attor complies with a small huff and splays down on his bedspread.
Seraphina finally rises to her feet and saunters to the wooden balcony that shields a treasured view with two bulky, wooden doors. She twists the knobs and steps through the threshold before slowly pacing over to the railing. She gently grips the wood to get support while being sucked into the wondrous view. The great mountains and gorgeous trees are all unexplored territories past a certain point.
Seraphina has always carried a sense of curiosity about the unknown. And it began to pulse stronger when her parents sadly passed. She has always remained in the homey village since her awaited birth. Yet when her parents parted, she grew conflicted between wanting to leave and wanting to stay in the comfort of a familiar place.
She lives, trains, fights for her people, and shares precious memories here. Despite all that, there is something that draws her away from home. Her dreams foretold great things for the young woman, but it all starts with her first step. Departing from her home. Though her nagging thoughts told her it was a selfish want, she plans to do it today.
She breathes out a sigh taking in the scenery before slowly turning her back on the view to go back to her chamber. Attor lifts his head to stare at Seraphina and makes a small chirp-like noise to catch her attention. She looks back at him knowing that look in his strange eyes, "Today is an important day, and I must admit, I'm feeling quite nervous."
Attor quickly leaves his warm spot and rubs his body against hers in hopes of soothing her troubling, nervous thoughts. A smile graces her face as she takes in appreciation for his comforting actions. She pats his scaly head as she moves to get dressed for the day and pack while she is at it. She picks out a light purplish-colored kimono and combs through her silky whitish strands of hair. She calls out for her dragon to head down the wooden interior for their meal.
Seraphina places herself down at the head of the lengthy, wooden table, with Attor to the right of her in his usual spot. She smells the aroma of the approaching food carried by Lilac who was humming a melody, which Seraphina memorizes very quickly.
Her parents, more specifically her dad had hummed the tune near her all the time.
She bows her head as a thank you to Lilac as she set the food on the table. Lilac lowers herself in front of Seraphina out of respect. She goes swiftly to take her exit to clean the kitchen, but Seraphina quickly calls for her.
"Lilac, I would like to speak with you."
