I changed back into my clothes from this morning. The mood had obviously gone sour, but Mitchell still brought me to my appointment on time. He also insisted on getting seats nearby, for my protection, or so he says.
Bernard Cooper was a stout man with a very big nose. He had the slicked back salt and pepper hair and honey colored eyes. He also smelled very strong of Chardonnay, which was not good, it was the one smell I could not stand for more than two hours before throwing up. He had two big briefcases in his right hand.
"Are you 'Malak'?" Mr. Cooper asked after he did a double take.
"Mr. Cooper, I presume?" I asked as I reached out for a handshake, but he kissed my hand instead.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. 'Malak," Mr. Cooper said. I had a sudden urge to punch him, but I held back and told myself that if something happened, Mitchell or Jon would be here in an instant.
"Same with you, Mr. Cooper," I said. Mr. Cooper sat across from me with a smirk on his stupid face.
"So, about 'My Lover is Crazy', I have written up a contract that has the exact specifications that you mentioned on the phone," Mr. Cooper said as he pulled out a large contract. It looked to be a little too big for my liking, but I knew that if I didn't read it all I could get in trouble.
The contract was almost everything I wanted, the only thing I didn't want was actually in my favor. That being, that I was to be paid for my collaboration and it wasn't a small amount either, though I was a bit hesitant to sign the contract.
"Thank you, Mr. Cooper," I said after thinking it over and signing it.
"Can you relocate to N city for the casting process?" Mr. Cooper asked.
"I..." I started, but decided to go look for reassurance from Mitchell, only he wasn't in my line of sight, "I'll find a way."
"Good," Mr. Cooper said, "I'll send you the address for the main building for my company via text and see you in three months time. Hope you have a nice night." Mr. Cooper packed his things and left in such a hurry I didn't get to reply at all.
A little while later, Mitchell came and got me.
"You did a good job, Cherry," Mitchell said. I sighed.
"Mitchell, I'm sorry for how I acted before," I said, "I've just been dealing with Narcissists for a long time. Being the black sheep is no fun." Mitchell put an arm around my waist.
"It's okay, Julian," Mitchell said, "I promise you that I will give you what you need."
"Oh," I said, "Also, I have to relocate to N City."
"I know just the place," Mitchell said, "But I need to get your father's permission first."
"I forgot," I said, "My Dad is very overprotective."
