I got out of bed and got dressed. I went downstairs to the dinner table as the maid served breakfast. The maid's name was Matilda, a sweet lady who always spoiled me when she watched over me when I was younger. She had her hair in a tight bun and wore a pair of khakis and a crisp white button-up shirt. I smiled at her and said: "Thanks for the food. Is Mother not eating with me today?" Matilda replied, "I'm sorry Alexander she couldn't make it... again." My mother's name was Samantha. She is a rather strict woman but is still caring though she is always busy and I never see her. Usually, she leaves me alone with Matilda. While that's fine, I still want to see her. I ate my breakfast without saying another word, grabbed my bag, and headed out the door to the car. As I was driving down the road, I turned on the radio but tuned out after they started talking about some small-time jewelry store robbings. My car squeaked to a halt as I entered the parking lot of my college's lab rooms. As I walked in, I ran into someone with a crash. I looked up to see my friend Jackson on the floor with me. He said with a sigh "Look Alexander you have to start looking where you're going!" "I know, I know but I have a lot on my mind. I mean finals are coming up and we aren't even close to completing our project. Are you sure this was meant for our grade level?" "Yes of course now get off your but and go inside. Before you knocked into me I was about to go and get us some coffee." "You know I don't like coffee," I said. "Alright fine I was going to go get myself coffee." I laughed and dusted myself off and said "Well hurry back it seems like you spend more time getting coffee rather than working on our project." "Well, what am I going to do otherwise it's not like I'm the one with the magic! All I can do is focus on statistics and such." After he said that I chuckled and walked inside. It was true I had the special ability to use magic. Not many people had it only about one in a thousand could even cast basic spells. I walked into our laboratory. It was a sterile room light with fluorescent lights with multiple tables all covered in paper. But in the center of the room on a shelf, there was a small jewel, surrounded by chemicals and magical tools. Our final project was to study the magic inside the jewel and find a way to identify the spells cast on it. Jackson thought it would be cool to try and add more spells to the jewel and get a better grade. You might be wondering why this is a project that everyone can do. The answer is that normal people can use magic by storing spells in items such as wands or orbs that were cast by true magic users or copied from other magical items by rune smiths. The difference between normal people and sorcerers is that true sorcerers can bend the world to our whims and not only cast spells but make new ones. I walked over to the jewel and thought today is the day that I make a new spell and add it to the jewel. As a said that I heard a screech the shelf fell off the wall. The glasses containing the chemicals smashed and poured all over the jewel. I yelled and tried to pick up the jewel and as soon as I did I felt a white-hot burning sensation in my hand. I cried out in agony! It felt as though it was going to melt through my hand. Writhing on the floor in pain there was a sudden stop to the burning. As I started to black out the peripheral vision of my eyes blurring I heard a small voice in my head say "Well I guess I am born." as everything faded to black.83Please respect copyright.PENANAPlVAlurLc0
