The group drives down the highway towards Mount Konte while thinking back to his time in the facility, remembering the days when he worked there as a researcher.
He was in charge of a number of abnormalities. None of them were very dangerous but if even one of them were released, it could shift the balance of the planet.
He never really cared about any of the intricate workings of the Order but now that he was going to fight against them, It wouldn't hurt to borrow some of his old toys.
There was one abnormality that he knew he needed for himself above all others.
It was one that he had discovered only one year into his tenure as a researcher.
He had been tasked alongside his fellow researchers with investigating a case involving a known group that rivalled the Order.
The group in question had a reputation for making use of Monsters and Abnormalities in their quest for power. Rather than keeping the abnormalities from impacting the world, they would actively use them to manipulate the world in their favor.
They were considered an enemy to the Order and were a major threat to the world.
The group was known as Control.
Rios squad had been given a briefing over strange occurrences that seemed to be related to Control's latest experiments. They were tasked with finding and recovering whatever Control was using for these experiments.
The reports had been vague but it had been clear that Control had been conducting illegal studies using the general public as guinea pigs. They had been known for experimenting on humans rather than other creatures.
Rio's team made a trip to a small isolated village disguised as normal tourists. This is where they would be spending the next few months.
While the village seemed peaceful and beautiful, it was clearly because they inhabitants were none the wiser about what was happening behind the scenes.
The longer the group stayed in the village, the more people mysteriously vanished. It became increasingly noticeable, but the odd part wasn't the disappearances. It was the towns folk. They seemed to understand what was happening around them, but chose to ignore the glaring problem. Instead, opting to live quietly amongst themselves as if everything was okay.
After a long investigation with minimal leads the team made a discovery. The townsfolk weren't just simply ignoring the problem. They were actively encouraging it.
It had become clear that Control had dealing with the town. They would supply the town with riches as long as they were offered a set of sacrifices every month. Rio's team didn't know how long this had been going on for but it was clear that the process was something akin to tradition for the people of this town.
With this new information, the investigation quickly picked up. His team was able to find out the location that Control was using for there experiments.
There base was much closer than Rio would have thought. Control had such a strong hold over the town, that they were executing their plans directly from inside the town hall. Upon gaining this information, a team was ordered to storm the base as soon as possible with Rio's squad following behind to gather any necessary documents or abnormalities.
The infiltration was a fairly simple process as the base had little to no defences. They were so accustomed to the towns peaceful and agreeable nature, that they never felt the need for any advanced protections.
Once inside, Rio's squad was quick to locate and retrieve what they needed from the base.
There were a number of documents referencing the testing of a new unstable weapon. It was a parasite that would latch on to a host and would allow the host to morph its body into various different weapons.
It was a creature not from the planet Earth but from another planet entirely.
The parasite would have given them immense power but there was one big problem.
It was nearly uncontrollable. There was a cabinet full of hundreds of failed attempts to find a proper host for the creature.
It didn't matter who they tried, the creature wouldn't accept any of the hosts and would kill them within minutes of being injected into them. It was like the creature was searching for something special, someone special, someone worthy enough to wield it.
Collecting all of the documents, the team headed to where the creature was stored. It had been held within a small jar of unknown material. Next to the jar was a set of Syringes made from what looked to be iron.
there was no gaps in the jar. It seemed that the creature did not need oxygen to survive. The team decided it would be best to leave the creature in the jar.
They took the creature along with all of the tools that was used on it and swiftly exited the base.
After taking a long break to organize there findings, the team returned back to the facility.
Studies continued on the creature using more humane methods but the secret to controlling it had still remained a mystery. soon the test had ceased all together as continued testing yielded no results.
In the end, it was contained and left spend the rest of its days behind a locked door.
Rio was hoping that the creature was still their. If it was he had no doubt in his mind that he would be able to control its power with his new abilities.
He had already come up with a few ideas as to how he could use the creature against his foes, and he couldn't wait until he had the chance to try them out for real.
Rio's face was filled with excitement as their car approached the mountain range.
