Teeny Tiny Tales of Torment - So do I

It was stupid, we both knew it was. We knew what we were getting into, but still we tried.

His head rests gently on my lap. I haven’t looked him in the eye since this morning. Finally, I breathed in the salty sea breeze and looked down at him.

Seeing his glossy eyes made mine well up. A month ago, he was a total stranger. But now I couldn’t imagine a life without him. Tomorrow I’d wake up without his droopy eyes and croaky voice saying good morning.

He says he has no regrets. So do I.
