“How come you didn’t tell me until right now?” I asked, fury in my voice. I was mad. My mom was packing up stuff in moving boxes and I had my hands clenched in fists. “Because, it didn’t seem like there was a right time, and then I ran out of time.” Mom said. “Mira, I’m sorry this seems sudden but, I need a break from city life. The only thing keeping me here was your dad but now…”
“Stop, don’t say that.” I didn’t want to hear another word about dad, how he left mom for one of his coworkers. He wanted me to stay with him but that was a definite no. He hurt mom, she loved him. “Can you please pack up your stuff Mira, I need help here.” As much as I didn’t want to move, I had no choice. I walked down the hall and into my room carrying a box.
I looked around at all my stuff, my music and cds on a shelf. My tons of books laying around. My pictures of friends. It seemed hopeless to look at them. I just wanted to stay, stay here. I could if I wanted to, but I’d have to live with dad. That was not happening.
I packed up all my stuff, throwing it neatly into boxes without thinking. I was upset we had to move but maybe it was for the best.
