I wanted to scream and shout “No, I love you,” I wanted to take them in my arms and hug them, to hold them in an embrace forever so nothing further could hurt us. But no, none of those words and feelings couldn’t get through the barriers before it. The barriers of expectation and opinions. None of it could get through. So I just watched as they walked away tears streaming down their face.
