*Alarm rings*
I wake up every day at 7 am. Today I don't feel very enthusiastic about going to work, especially not after last night. I had what I can say is one of the worst nights ever. Anyway, I got off out of my bed and walked towards my window only to find that it had snowed very heavily last night. I somehow like the winter bliss more than summer. It's just an excuse to crawl up under my bed cover, all cosy and warm. *phone rings* every day my mom calls me at sharp 7:30 am to check in on me, but I always find it hard to locate my phone in the morning; ironically I place my phone every day on my nightstand before bed.
'Hey, Mom! I was just getting ready for work, I'm almost done.'
"How was last night? You never called me back. Was it worth it? Dee Dee didn't pick up her phone?
" Last night was okay, but I'm not doing it again"
"What?... Why? Myra, you can't just give up this soon"257Please respect copyright.PENANAcdw8XrkmRg
I didn't want to tell my mother about the fiasco that happened last night, but I also couldn't let her worry about the reason.
"Nothings serious Mom, I just didn't feel ready"
"Myra, I wish you would overcome and move on soon. It has been 5 years already"
"I know that, and I am moving on just slow-paced"
"I understand, You get into to work now I'll talk to you later, Your father needs me to buy him some new socks"
"Love you, Mom Take care"
I got dressed up, packed my things, found my keys and locked the door from outside. I usually take the bus to my office but today I decided to take the subway. As I was walking down the lane I noticed that people around me were staring right at me, It seemed more creepy than odd. So, I walked fast trying to avoid the possibility of anyone looking at me. I got on the subway only to see there is no seat available, don't you just hate when that happens. Anyways, I had to stand for the whole ride but that just created more attention as an older woman sitting across from me kept staring right at me, never blinking her eyes once. I was a little uncomfortable but gave her a friendly smile but no response. I was already starting to regret going into work today by this time. I work for Wineyard Industries as a wine taster in Bangalore.
"Well look who came into work today, It's Myra"
"Okay, Firstly Ehan I had no idea he was going to be there last night, I would never do anything to put our company at stake."
"It's a little too late for that now, the boss wants to have a little chat with you in his office"
"Oh god! This is just perfect, just what I needed to start my day"
*Knock on the door*
"Did you call me, Sir?"
"If your Mira then just come in"
My Boss the CEO of Wineyard Industries is a control freak, Mr Rishab Sharma, in simple words is a pain in my ass. I have worked for him for almost 7 years now and he still doesn't remember my name. How can anyone like this man? But I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for him 5 years ago. I will never forget him for that.
"Well, It's Myra, Sir"
"Oh Good for you. Anyway, I need you to send me the budget report for the Wine Tour happening next month" He gets up from his chair and starts walking right towards me, he leans in forward close to me, I could feel my body going numb as I looked into his eyes, the perfume he wore was intoxicating. I hear a sound of the door opening and he says "Could you please move aside, I need to get out" I quickly snapped out of my mind and moved aside
"I'm sorry, please go ahead"
"Thank you, Mira. Have those reports on my table by the end of the day. And by the way your " I saw him walk away but I was still trying to calm my heart down. He's 6 ft tall and I'm 5.5 ft so you can understand why I was a bit intimidated.
I went back to my office and my best friend and colleague DeeDee aka Deena had already been waiting for me on my chair.
"DeeDee you do realize that's my chair right?"
"What's yours is mine, I go by that policy. So tell me what happened to you last night"
"Ugh, is that why you are here? I don't want to talk about it"
"Oh, Come on your the talk of the town now"
"Town? What are you talking about"
"Are you kidding everyone in the company knows what you did last night, probably the whole world"
"What are you talking about?"
DeeDee takes her phone out and shows me a video of me last night at the charity event, standing on the stage wearing my black evening gown and cursing my Boss in front of the whole crowd and then falling off the stage only to land on the arms of my Boss.
"OMG, is this me? why don't I remember this? I am so screwed"
"Do you not remember anything at all? It was quite romantic"
"I remember walking out on our investor when he asked me out, but other than that not a thing"
"Wow, well you are really in big trouble because the person who took this video uploaded it to social media and it already has like a million likes."
"A million! how?"
"Myra, you publicly humiliated one of the top CEOs in Bangalore, what else did you expect"
I couldn't believe what I had done, this makes perfect sense as to why everyone was staring at me right from my neighbourhood to the subway.
"Wait a minute, I just met Rishab in his office but he didn't mention last night at all"
"Your kidding! he's probably giving you the silent treatment"
"That's ridiculous, why would he do that? He's not the type to forgive easily"
"You should go and apologies to him right now"
"Oh God, your right I should but.."
*Knock on the door*
My intern walks in and says "Myra, he's here to meet you"
DeeDee turns to me and says "You still haven't told him. It's been a long time just get it over with"
"I'm just not ready yet, I'll talk to you later tonight"
I walk out the door to the conference room and there he is sitting on the chair with his hands on the table crossed and his head down, He lifts his head as I opened the door.
"Hi Myra, I...I just came to say Goodbye"
