  1. 如果巴拉克號出了事…

海啽巴和殘留島之間的往來每次都花好幾個月，雙方以物換物：海哈巴可以生產一些農具和馬匹乃至一些生活藥用品如消毒酒精及傷風藥，殘留島曾以魚乾穀物和肉乾或改良了的牲口提供作交換。

這種關係已經維持了好幾十年，巴拉克號一直担任這個重要的任務，但日子久了，再堅固的船也會有破損，已經用了好幾代人，巴拉克號鋼鐵外殼已鏽跡玟斑，內部已經很殘破，特別是為了增加載量而妄固安全地進行改裝以增加載量，導致航行時愈來愈危險。

而有一天，果然出了狀況…….

盛滿面粉的船艙內出現嚴重滲水，後來加刻成大規模破損，不斷入水，靠日夜用幫浦抽出海水方能勉強行駛至殘留島。

殘留島上的人們都明白是時候建造新船-------一艘載量及得上巴拉克號的大船，而非一般用來打魚的船。

但船究竟要怎樣？要怎樣造？要怎樣設計？怎樣建造？用什麼來做？
