I slammed my fist against the tree,
A sickening crack accompanied by an uncomfortable numbness,
Blood seeping from the places bark had dug into the skin.
I didn’t care, didn’t feel a thing.

He didn’t know, and because of his oblivion, he was dead.

They were horrid, and inhumanely cruel, and they were ruthless…
But they were powerful.
They proved to me that humanly morals didn’t matter worth heck;
The only thing that made any difference was power–

Power that they had, that we didn’t have.
Power that would decide our secret little war,
The war that many were ignorant to,
And that many more believed we were winning.

They had no heart, no thoughts of their own; they followed orders without question and without hesitation.
They didn’t rebel against their leaders; they worked with a terrifying perfection.

We may have built them to help us, to fulfill our human needs,
