愛喝酒的秀才呂四與往常一樣喝了通宵的酒直到黎明才不得不散宴回家，到午時仍未起床，至友賈義與他早約好今日要到縣學辦事怕時間來不及誤了正事，趕緊三步併兩步上門叫醒呂四，呂四大夢初醒先打了個酒嗝然後睜開矇矓的雙眼宿醉的說道：「我剛剛做了一場夢，夢到我深夜讀書，隔壁那户人家卻整晚喝酒又吟詩作對好不快活，那濃香酒氣飄了過來，我則君子不立危牆之下，我整夜都在讀書絲毫不為所動。」
