A room that is no more

There’s a chair in the corner, never used

Paint tubes emptied

Lingerie tossed carelessly

Stickers on my closet doors

And poetry hastily taped along my walls

All things I’ll be leaving

A reflection of who I always was and will be

Along walls, pictures of youth plastered

Now packed in boxes

Hidden from my sight

Growing up is a terrifying fright

Leaving the comfort of the known behind

Countries I will cross

My material pleasures lost.
