Thinking,

Staring into mirrors, cloudy with memories of the past.

My thoughts are fraying, each tendril of thread coming loose,

Until nothing is left but the tattered remains of my mind.

I think about you,

About how nothing is as it seems.

Words are meaningless, and yet they are our most destructive weapon,

Laying on the tip of our tongues.

I wish I didn’t think,

That my mind was silent, finally letting me breathe.

With thinking comes pain,

And pain is what I’m trying to escape.

It’s a never ending cycle,

Yet one that I live in and thrive in.

Words can shatter me,

Can set me on fire and make me burn till nothing is left but ashes.

Words can lift me up and nurture me with their kindness.

We weave tales of glory with our mouths,

Lies spill from our lips and will someday come back to haunt us.

About me,

Thinking about the dew that settles on the leaves of the cherry tree.

I never have the words to say what I feel,

So I craft stories and essays in my mind,

Never to be shared.

Thinking,

Is something I love.

I can make an earthquake with my thoughts and words,

Create a tsunami with the things I long to say,

And wash away the pain of yesterday.
