Poisoned Love

Hushed whispers exchanged with sharp forked tongues.

The creak of old worn stairs.

Your words as soft velvet,

But as sharp as a razor,

Each word coated in poison. 

Your eyes,

Twin pools of molten starlight, 

whisk over me, 

Shredding flesh from bone,

Ripping open my deepest secrets 

and darkest desires. 

Everything about you is unearthly,

Your heart,

Encompassed by eternities of stone and steel.

Too cold to touch,

Too cold to care. 

In the end,

Destroy me.

Let those hands,

Each one surrounded with talons of night,

Let them alone consume me with a touch,

For I do not belong in this world.

Take my heart,

As bitter and hardened as it may be. 

Take my soul, 

As tainted as it is.

Take my life, 

For I don’t want to stay.

I will ask nothing of you in return, 

Nothing but your heart, 

Nothing but your love.
