“My Lord.” A knight steps forward approaching the king sitting on his throne.
“Come closer, Altamis.” The king spoke with a strong deep intimidating demanding voice that echoed everywhere, a piercing sharp voice that brought fear to any mortal man.
The knight hesitates with fear but steps closer towards the king. “It appears that the widow… Rose, has trained someone by the name of Arthur. A mere commoner my Lord. A child.”
The king slams his fist on the throne’s arm rest. “What?” He stands as the knight lowers himself immediately and bows down in fear. The knights’ hands begin to shake uncontrollably. He gulps and clears his throat.
“My Lord Ki-King Kaizar, I shall go personally and imprison Rose for her insolence! She will not stand on our Lords lands and make his grand army a mockery.” The knight was interrupted by the King.
“Enough!” Silence and tension grew as the kings’ guards wait patiently for the king’s response to the words of his knight. The king began to make a fist. He began to breathe heavily. “Rose refused to train my armies. Then she refused the honor to lead my best men into battle. Then she refused to give me her husband’s sword. I respected her wishes and let it all be. But this… Training a child?” The king began to stroke his thick beard as he contemplates on the situation.
The king then looks towards the knight still kneeling, his face facing the ground “Go, face this child… Arthur. Put him to the test. Make Arthur suffer.” The knight smiled viciously as he got up. “Altamis, do not fail me.”
“Yes, my Lord, I will not fail you.”

“It’s time for your departure, young Arthur.” You look at Rose and smile while wondering where the time went. The months of training hard went by so quickly. Rose was like your new mother and a close friend. She was strong, funny, intelligent and assertive. A lot of her personality has rubbed off on you. She was more than just a teacher now. She felt like family, and it was hard for you to just let go and walk away from the farm. Tears began to form in your eyes. It was time for you to leave and save your mother who was being held as a slave by the evil King Kaizar.
However, you don’t feel like going off into the horizon and just leaving Rose alone like she was before. “I wish I could go with you, but I must tend to the farm. And before you go.” She removed her sword from her waist. She bent down on one knee lifts the sword up above her shoulders with both hands and lowers her face to the ground. “This sword, is now yours.”
Your hands began to tremble. How could you just take the legendary sword from her? This was a big deal to her. “I-I can’t.” You spoke softly as your voice shakes with uncertainty. “This is your husband’s sword. His gift to you. I cannot be the one to take it. I already have my sword.”
“Arthur, please.” She lifts her head towards you. Tears began to fall from her eyes. They rolled gently down her reddish cheeks. “The sword you carry now is an apprentices’ sword. It is worthless. If you go into battle with that thing, it will break, and you’ll be dead. You might as well throw it in the river. With this sword you’ll be able to fight like I do. Take it. You’re now a part of me, like my own child. Take this sword.”
