One day they was an eleven-year-old boy

He was dreaming of the forest’s song

One day we’re gonna flood the world with joy

Like we said that we would all along

One day there was unimaginable pain

That forged him into people’s hope

One day the world will rejoice in pouring rain

And so he did force himself to cope

The forest sings in the distance

The forest is the resistance

The forest welcome all of us

The forest beckons us all hence

———

One day there was a young thirteen-year-old child

He was trying hard to remember

The forests‘s arms all around him free and wild

The promises it did deliver

One day there was hot slowly-surmounting rage

In all the people in the whole world

Because all their lives were forced within a cage

And they needed hope to be unfurled

———

The forest sings in the distance

The forest is the resistance

The forest welcome all of us

The forest beckons us all hence

———

One day there was a rebellious young man

And he knew where his allegiance lay

And so he made the most daring cunning plan

Like David who did Goliath slay

One day there was a brave and daring fight

The people shed their blood to create space

Where anyone could run to for their rights

The impossible odds they did face

———

The forest sings in the distance

The forest is the resistance

The forest welcome all of us

The forest beckons us all hence

———

One day there was a forest so unconquered

A flame of hope for all to gaze at

All because the boy made himself go onward

Because he promised to himself that

One day the world will be free of the shadow

That cast in darkness so many lives

In the meantime the forest’s song will echo

So that in this world hope can survive
