Your breathing quickens and you rub your hands on your trousers. Sweat had covered them in a sheen. Keeping your eyes on the widow, you began forward, slowly. You were reminded of your days filching bread from the kitchens. Though you weren't a bad person in general, stealing was something you did well.
Closer you came, keeping your eyes on her back. Your hand closed around the hilt and... the sword was thrust backwards, straight in your gut. Groaning, you fall back, finding yourself staring into the widows eyes. They seem to cut through you and you want to crawl away.
Thoughts of begging for your life flit into your mind, but you don't want to steep that low. If you had a fault, it was your pride. Staring her down, you form your mouth into a sneer and spit at her, hoping she doesn't call your bluff.

"Who are you?" she asks, her voice cold and sharp.
"A-An orphan," you reply, ashamed at the shake in your voice. She steps back and aims the sword at you before continuing her lunch.
You don't dare move as she eats, always aware that any move might be your last. Fear about dying early flit in your mind and back out again. Surely, she won't kill you. Your an innocent after all.
After she's finished, she gestures for you to enter her home. Moving quickly, you nearly miss the beautiful insides. It's a beautiful home. Two wooden chairs sit by a fireplace and she motions for you to sit in one of the chairs. She takes the other seat, setting the sword by her.
Biting your lip, you pray she doesn't decide to kill you.
"Where are you from?" she asks, instead.

"What's your name?" she asks.
You shrug. "What's yours?" you ask, interested. She doesn't answer, gazing into the fire. After a while, she speaks again, her voice harsher this time.
"Why did you try to steal my sword?"
"Money. Food. Pride. Choose one," you say bravely, the image slightly ruined by the fear you know is in your eyes.
She nods before giving you a piece of meat. You can't identify what type it is.
"Eat. You look like your about to drop," she says before standing and moving into a room and closing the door.
For a minute, you barely realize she's left. Your tearing into the food eagerly, ignoring all other signs in the house. Once you've finished, you feel better, but you suddenly realize she's left you alone with the sword.
You stand and step closer to it. The fire crackles and you rethink for a moment. She gave you food and let you live. Could you steal from her? Were you that starved? Could you bring yourself to that? Confusion spreads and you find yourself hesitating with your hand an inch away from the hilt.
The sword's a beauty. The blade shines and it's clearly well taken care of. Could you steal this? Take this momento from such a nice woman?
Not that nice, you remind yourself. She's beaten all of the men and certainly killed some. She's not completely innocent. She's definitely killed before. Hurt before.
It's right there. It wouldn't take much. One move and you could have it. Then you could dash out...
But could you deal with the guilt? Not to mention the men who would want to steal it from you? Could the woman defend herself without the sword?
