Nozomu tackled Taisetsuna from the side, and they both rolled on the floor. She was trying to bite and scratch him, and then Hinotsume’s massive paw stomped over them, pinning both to the ground. She kept on throwing Fire Balls and Wind Slashes, trying to get free, and Hinotsume frowned as he endured the powerful Magical attacks with his paws and massive body.

While she was screaming in anger and throwing Magical attacks one after the other, Nozomu tried to calm her down by speaking in her ear. “Calm down, Suna. It’s me. You are safe. Everything is alright. No one wants to hurt you.”

She tried to bite his hand that was grabbing her chin, and he bit his left ear and said, “If you bite me, I am going to bite you. Take a deep breath, Suna. Don’t let your anger get the best of you.”

“That bastard! I am going to kill him! What is wrong with him? Why does he keep on picking on me? What did I do to him?”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAPX3XXqc8GJ
“I think he likes you. I bet he doesn’t know what to do about it, so he tries to see you as his enemy. Breathe, Suna, just breathe. That’s it; air in, air out.”
She took a few deep breaths and dispersed the Magic around her that was making her glow.

Hinotsume felt her stop fighting, and he carefully lifted his paw and asked, “Is it safe now? Is she calm?”

Nozomu rolled on the floor and moved her hair away to look at her. She still had a red face from anger, but she was calmer. She gave an awkward smile and said, “I lost it again, didn’t I? Damn it… Miss Koyaga is going to annoy me, isn’t she?”

“You think? You should worry more about Teacher Muse. She seemed pretty pissed!”

Taisetsuna jolted and got up with Nozomu. They looked around and wondered why there was a tall wall of Water around them, and Hinotsume asked with a tilted head, “Did you always have that much Magic, Taisetsuna? Mizukonta had a lot of trouble stopping your Fire Balls, and the Wind Slashes you threw at me almost cut my body into pieces if I didn’t have such hard scales. You are rather dangerous for a Cat-kind so young!”

“I… I am sorry… I have been practising my Magic every day, and the amount of Magic I can use is also increasing.”

Hinotsume signalled with his head, and Mizukonta dispersed the wall of Water.
The students were looking at them, completely dumbfounded, and Muse Sirel was boiling with anger.

She stomped her feet on the ground a few times and shouted, “What the ‘yuuu’ is wrong with this group? Another one trying to kill another student?”

Nozomu raised his right hand and said, “In Taisetsuna’s defence, I can say that boy keeps on annoying us since we met him a few days ago in the Capital. And when he arrived at this Academy, he was always trying to pick a fight. I guess we can say that he got what he wanted.”

Muse Sirel crossed her arms and frowned. She didn’t say anything more, but then she rolled her eyes and looked at the mess that was at her feet.

She carefully kicked the boy’s body and heard him breathing. “At least he is still alive. I also wanted to hit him, but you could have stopped before leaving him looking like this. You lost control, didn’t you? You need to get a handle on that temper of yours, girl. ‘Cat-kind Anger’ makes you lose focus and you can even attack your friends. If it weren’t for the Dragons, we could all be hurt by now because of you. You have a tonne of Magic at your disposal! The last time I saw someone as powerful was years ago, and he was an old Mage! I never met a Cat-kind so young and able to use half the amount of Magic you used! Anger can make you more powerful, but it is also dangerous for you and your friends nearby. I guess we need to teach you a few exercises so that you don’t lose control like this.”

Taisetsuna answered with her head low, “The Priest that raised me and Nozo taught me a bunch of ways to calm down… It was working so far, but I guess... Everything I have been through these last few days made me want to kill someone... And he was right there, shouting for me to kneel and apologize… when he is the one that needs to apologise for what he has been doing and saying… I… I am sorry, Teacher…”

“Go sit near that wall. I am too angry to have you near me right now. But first, get a Healing Potion and fix this guy. He is in my way.”

Taisetsuna frowned and opened her mouth to say something, but immediately closed it when she noticed the brightness in the eyes of the angry-looking Dwarf woman.
She rushed to her bag, returned with a High-Grade Healing Potion, and forced the Lion-kind boy to drink. While she waited for him to recover, she quickly put his arms in the correct position so that the bones would heal properly.
She even pushed back into its place the eye that was hanging by only a piece of flesh and poured some of her Healing Magic all over his face to heal him faster.

He stared blankly at her and mumbled, “Thanks…”

“Shut up. I was forced to do this. Don’t talk to me or even look at me, or I might kill you for real.”

Taisetsuna checked if he could bend his knee, and got up, running to the wall of the Academy, and sat on the ground with her back leaned against the wall.
Hinotsume and Mizukonta were already there, looking at the circle of students and waiting for the next fight. None of them said anything; they just let her be alone with her thoughts.
Another group of fighters went to the middle of the circle, and then another, and another.
When it was Chujitsuna’s turn, her opponent was a Dog-kind boy, who gulped when he saw her weird smile.

She clenched her fists and said, “Don’t worry, this won’t take long. It will hurt just a bit.”

The moment Teacher Muse told them to start, Chujitsuna’s powerful lower half pushed her straight to her opponent, as if she were a cannonball. The blow was so strong that he fell on the floor and rolled back, completely knocked out by the double punch he had got on his chest and face.

Chujitsuna raised her arms and shouted, “One second again! I am on fire!”

Muse Sirel rubbed her face with both hands and spoke as she was slowly shaking her head, “One crazy student after the other… You were supposed to fight so that I could judge what you know and adjust my classes! What the heck was that?”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAJ6ZKNQpThU
“That was me winning again. What else? It is not my fault if he is slow! I bet Nozomu and Taisetsuna could escape me! It’s totally not my fault! I went all out because I didn’t want to risk getting hurt!”

She slithered back to her place again, and Muse Sirel frowned at the shy Gailie that was near Nozomu, grabbing his arm and trembling with nervousness. She finally let him go, took one step forward, and said, “This one is ready. Weapons are a problem, but unarmed combat is fine. This one can do that much.”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAVrL4LucNa2
Teacher Muse jolted and asked, “Are you sure? Gailies are not very good with violence, so if you prefer to let your pet plant fight instead of you, I will understand.”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAmLiE2fSU6l
“No, Draiky always loses against this one. Mother taught this one how to use her vines to fight, and father taught this one how to use hands and kicks to get rid of an opponent without harming him too much.”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAF1OL8yviZo
“If you say so… Who didn’t fight yet?”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAuABlaxKrhx
A Human boy took one step forward with a big smile on his lips. “Me! This will be fun for sure! Everyone knows that Gailies always scream and run away the moment someone tries to attack them! Don’t worry, pretty thing! I won’t hurt you… much! Ahahahah!”

Tresuria went to the middle of the circle and closed her eyes with her palms together in front of her chest. She took one slow, deep breath, and stood there without moving.
Teacher Muse waited for her to open her eyes, but since she didn’t, she shrugged.
At the order to start, Tresuria stared at her opponent, fully focused on his movements. He grinned and ran at her with his arms raised and screaming, trying to scare her.
When he was within reach, Tresuria sent one vine to him with the flower closed and wrapped around his arms. She then put one foot back to serve as a pushing base, pulled the boy close, and hit him straight in the stomach with her open right palm. The strike was so powerful that he threw up and fainted next.
She carefully put the boy on the floor and made a deep bow at him, then went to her place next to Nozomu.

Muse Sirel had her mouth wide open. She blinked a few times and asked, “Tresuria… I… never saw a Gailie hit anyone… and… was that ‘open-palm-one-kill’? Who taught you that move?”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAeeVgClQA2J
“This one’s father did. It can be used to kill if aimed at the heart, but at the stomach, it has that effect. This one was taught since childhood that in the case of an emergency, to use the maximum force possible to defeat her opponent without killing him. It is against Gailies belief to end a life, but hitting and knocking out an opponent is acceptable if one’s life is at risk. Most Gailies prefer to put their opponents to sleep and run away, but this one was raised differently by a very worried father who always told this one that running away sometimes is not an option. Especially if other people can die if this one leaves them behind. This one will be an Adventurer, and an Adventurer doesn’t leave anyone behind.”

Muse Sirel slowly nodded, still dumbfounded, and Teacher Egar Gage clapped his hands and congratulated her. “That is the right path to become an Adventurer, Tresuria! Fame and glory don’t matter much if you are not honoured and your Party members can’t trust you to cover their backs if needed! Your father did a wonderful job if he instilled in you all those values!”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAxv6uJwIp4U
Tresuria timidly smiled. Chujitsuna approached her and whispered, “You were amazing, Tresuria, and it was also a pretty move you made. The way you put your foot far back to give yourself more impulse was outstanding. I have seen that move being used but without the footwork. Now that I saw you doing it, I totally get the advantages!”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAikE0OBybpb
“Yes… This one father told her it was better to do it like that.”
53Please respect copyright.PENANAXVtlWZm8BV
Chujitsuna kept on smiling with her eyes glowing, and Tresuria gulped because she was so close and her smell was inebriating.
Hinen Sukemoru was next, and the last student that didn’t fight was a Cat-kind like him, a member of the Party of the Lion-kind boy who was near his other companions, glancing occasionally at Taisetsuna, who was still seated near the wall next to Hinotsume’s tail.
When Muse Sirel told them to start, they both went at each other, and for two minutes, one would try to punch the other and hit the air because his target was no longer there. Both seemed to be evenly matched in speed and expertise.
If Hinen threw a kick, his opponent would avoid it and throw a kick of his own, also missing his target.
Then, when both were panting, Hinen tripped, and as he was falling, his opponent tried to punch him. Hinen grinned and raised his head, getting the punch on his forehead and almost breaking the other boy’s hand, because that was one of his strongest bones, because of how many times he hit the ground during his childhood and broke it.
As the other boy was holding his hand in pain, Hinen punched his chin upwards, sending him falling back and unconscious.

As Hinen was taking deep breaths to recover his breath, Egar Gage mumbled, “He pretended to trip to catch his opponent off guard… He is sly… He seems innocent, but… I don’t know... Something is wrong with that kid… It is as if he enjoys inflicting pain on others… He doesn’t look to have the right mindset for… I could be wrong… Time will tell.”
