Nozomu took a slow deep breath and went to the entrance. Taisetsuna was holding a small Fireball in her hand, to give them light, and as soon as she tapped Nozomu’s back to tell him she was ready, he ran.
The large opening was the beginning of a long and high tunnel, and at ten meters, it was divided into two smaller tunnels. Without Taisetsuna needing to signal him, Nozomu went to the left tunnel, because there was a strong smell of something rotten coming from there. The smell coming from the other tunnel was not so strong, so Nozomu thought it could indicate that there were more Goblins in that direction.
As soon as they made the first turn right on that tunnel, there was a group of four Goblins seated on the floor, scratching something near them. They were all as tall as a nine-year older, with tiny sharp teeth, long faces, pointy noses, pointy ears, and completely naked.
Without even looking at what they were scratching on the floor, Nozomu hit one Goblin with the sword, another with the buckler, and Taisetsuna be-headed the other two with a single slash of her sword. As Nozomu was piercing with the sword breaker the Goblin that was on the floor, completely dizzy by the hit from the buckler, Taisetsuna sniffed the air and pointed to another tunnel at her left.
Nozomu pulled his sword from the Goblins head and frowned at the pool of dark green blood on the rocky floor. His attention then shifted to what they were scratching, and he almost threw up. It was the tip of a horse’s leg, and they were using sharp rocks to cut slices from it, to eat.

Taisetsuna whispered while pushing him to the tunnel, “No time to get sick, we have a job to do, remember? Kill everything that moves, don’t you even think, just do it!”

Nozomu ran to where Taisetsuna was pointing, using the light coming from the Fireball to see his path. After three more meters, a noise made him stop, and Taisetsuna almost bumped against him. He went in search of the noise and found a hole at his right. Taisetsuna pointed the Fireball there, and they both gulped.
It was a small entrance, but inside, there were dozens upon dozens of Goblin babies, eating pieces of meat from a pile in the middle of that cavern. When one baby turned his head to look to where that strange orange light was coming, he died, slashed in half by a wide Wind Slash that Taisetsuna threw, and that Slash travelled near the floor, cutting in half all the Goblin babies in there, without them having time to release a scream. Another Wind Slash followed the first, going into another direction, to make sure there was not even one baby Goblin alive that could be hidden behind the falling bodies of his friends or brothers.

Nozomu stared at Taisetsuna and she whispered with a serious face, “I told you, kill anything that moves. He moved. Let’s go, we are wasting precious time!”

Nozomu ran again, doing his best not to make too much noise with the sword that was dangerously close to the wall because that tunnel was getting narrow. They found another nursery, and another, and in all of them, Taisetsuna killed every Goblin baby in there, without even batting an eye.
Nozomu was getting sick with all the killings, but Taisetsuna didn’t even let him digest what happened, she kept on pushing him to go further, deeper into those endless tunnels. Then, the noise of screeching, neighing, bellowing, and girly screams, reached them.
Nozomu stopped at the next curve and peeked. In front of him, a large cave, with several other entrances, illuminated by several fires burning near the walls that were roasting slices of meat. Near one wall, two cows were tied to a stick that was stuck on the floor.
Near them, a dead horse was on the floor with a group of more than ten Goblins eating him and fighting for the intestines, as if they were playing some wicked game of tug-o-war.
Nozomu looked to the right of that weird game, and saw a horse with a rope around his neck being pulled down by a group of ten or fifteen Goblins, while many others were biting his sides and back, and taking out huge chunks with their sharp teeth that they were spitting to the floor, and those bloody and warm pieces were then gathered by Goblin females with their breasts dangling like bells, and placed on a pile.
His eyes then went in search of the girl, the one that he was hearing screaming mixed with all that noise, and what he saw, made him gulp. The older girl was on top of an elevated and flat surface, at one meter high, with Goblins holding her hands and feet.
One Goblin was slicing the girl’s left thigh with a dagger, and another Goblin was slicing the flesh on the girl’s right arm. Another low scream was coming from the left of that girl, and the younger girl was curled on the floor, screaming and sobbing, trying to protect her little body while two Goblins were poking her hard with sticks, and making weird sounds as if they were laughing.

Nozomu heard Taisetsuna whispering, and her voice was so full of anger, that he didn’t even recognize her, “Nozo, get ready to absorb Magic. I will make tiny Fireballs, and you explode as many Goblins as you can. I go for the older girl, you get the little one.”

Without waiting for him to move, Taisetsuna ran at an incredible speed on the wall, using the bumps and small holes on the wall to approach the older girl, catching the Goblins off-guard. She slashed her sword and the dagger on her tail around her as soon as she landed over the girl, killing in one second all the Goblins at reach. A quick pull of the Healing Potion that she was carrying on a string around her neck, and Taisetsuna quickly poured a few drops over the girl’s wounds and forced her to drink the rest of the Potion, taking advantage of her open mouth that was still screaming from all the panic and pain.

As for Nozomu, he ran straight to the little girl, kicking one Goblin that smashed against the nearest wall and piercing the other. He crouched next to her and said, “Your parents sent us. Stay down, we will save you and your sister!”

The little girl looked at Nozomu from between her tiny fingers and stuttered, “M-mommy? D-daddy? Sis is there… she was screaming...”

Nozomu looked around, noticing that the Goblins realized what he and Taisetsuna did, and he shouted, “Suna, they are coming!”

A horde of Goblins came from every hole that connected to a tunnel, attracted by the screeching of alarm the Goblins near the horse and the cows did. Taisetsuna joined him with the older girl, who immediately hugged her sister.

Taisetsuna made a bunch of tiny Fireballs that she placed on the floor near her, and said while squeezing the hilt of her sword, “I am counting on you, Nozo! Don’t bury us by destroying this cave, but kill them all!”

She jumped to the elevated platform again and began throwing Wind Slashes to her front, nonstop. Nozomu gathered one tiny Fireball and turned it into his weird dark and white cloud, compressing it in a split of a second, and he threw it to one of the entrances from where Goblins were coming, in a never-ending current of entangled dark green bodies.
Cloud after cloud, explosion after explosion, pieces of Goblins were flying everywhere, but they kept on coming. Taisetsuna alternated Wind Slashes with Fireballs, aiming at the larger groups of Goblins, and using her sword to be-headed the ones that got too close.
Nozomu was in front of the two young girls, using his body as a shield. He kept on throwing explosive clouds to the front, and when he couldn’t see where he was aiming because he had more than twenty Goblins on him trying to bite him to death, he began slashing with his sword, pushing them with the buckler, or kicking them.
His strange ability to be immune to Magic proved to be more effective than he thought because every movement he made was enough to send the Goblins flying against the walls or losing pieces of their bodies.
The older girl shouted for him to get to her, and Taisetsuna looked back the moment Nozomu called her name. The two girls were near one of the entrances, calling for them because that tunnel was clear of Goblins, and Nozomu was the first to get there, with Taisetsuna throwing a large Wind Slash to her front, to gain some time to join them.
The moment Taisetsuna jumped to the floor, a Goblin jumped to her back, biting her neck. Another Goblin grabbed her leg, making her trip. Taisetsuna rolled on the floor and was overwhelmed by a group of Goblins that jumped on her.
Nozomu ran to help and was hit in his chest by a Fireball. In front of him, three big Goblins stood in his way, and they began spitting Magic Fire. He didn’t even slow down, going straight at them as if they were not even there. Pieces of Goblins splattered on the floor and wall as if a bulldozer went over them when Nozomu slashed his sword and hit them with the buckler. Nozomu tackled the pile of Goblins that were over Taisetsuna, and pulled her arm out of that mess of bodies and teeth, noticing that she was covered in green blood mixed with her red blood that was coming out from the several wounds she had were a lot of flesh was missing.
Without even thinking properly, Nozomu turned all the Fire Magic that more Goblins threw at him into a massive dark and white cloud. As he was placing the nearly dead Taisetsuna over his shoulders, he threw the explosive cloud to the high ceiling and ran to the girls that were calling for him while Taisetsuna in one last moment of consciousness, threw another Wind Slash to the horde of Goblins that were coming after them, slicing them all.
The moment the cloud detonated, the entire mountain trembled, and the rubble buried the Goblins that were still alive, and blocked every exit. Nozomu kept on running with the two girls, still carrying the deadly injured Taisetsuna while everything around them was trembling, and pieces of rock were falling, together with dust.
Luckily for them, the older girl remembered the path they took when the Goblins were dragging her and her sister to that death trap, and she served as a guide, continuously screaming at Nozomu to run because they were nearly out.
After what seemed for Nozomu an eternity when in fact were mere minutes, they reached the main entrance, coming from a tunnel that he didn’t see when he first entered with Taisetsuna.
At the entrance was Koyaga, who was looking at them worried. She helped Nozomu to place Taisetsuna on the grass, and he immediately took a Healing Potion from the string around his neck and put some on his mouth, going to Taisetsuna’s lips right after. He forced her to swallow by pushing the liquid into her throat with his tongue, and he then poured drops on every wound he found. As the wounds were closing and new flesh was growing, ‘Furnace’ approached, and poured over her a huge amount of Healing Magic. Taisetsuna opened her eyes and jumped, looking around in search of more Goblins. She relaxed when ‘Furnace’ caressed her face with the snout, and she then noticed the pile of Goblin bodies three meters from them. Some were sliced in half, many were roasted.

Koyaga shrugged to answer Taisetsuna inquisitive look, “We took care of them. They were returning from somewhere, dragging those two horses that are near Rampage. What happened inside?”
