I watched Bergamot collapse, his head hitting the floor with a thud. The serpents slithered away. I picked Bergamot up gingerly, inspecting the snake bites. They were deep and oozed an unknown clear liquid. I glared at the old lady, holding Bergamot in one arm, and reaching for my dagger with the other. "What kind of snakes were those?!" I demanded, and the old lady frowned. "Don't worry. Those snakes don't produce venom," She said as I rose, gently slinging Bergamot over my shoulder. He wasn't a featherweight, but I had carried heavier stuff. The old lady continued as I turned my back to leave the cottage. "They produce sedatives, so Bergamot will be alright." I shoot her one last glare and then leave, heading back towards the carriage. I gently lay him on the carriage floor, and sit beside him. "Please be alright..." I murmured, placing a hand on his forehead, and snatched it away quickly.  He was burning up, the heat was palpable, I could feel it through his clothes. I look around the floor of the carriage, spotting a bucket, filled to the top with water. I grabbed my apron, tearing a piece. Stepping over Bergamot's unconscious form, I walk over to the bucket, submerging the torn piece of fabric in water. I pull the torn fabric, wring it out and dab it gently over Bergamot's forehead. "Please be alright, Bergamot," I sit beside his unconscious form, and close my eyes, hoping to get some sleep. I wake up to check on Bergamot, and his fever hasn't broken.
