國王穿了那件聰明人才看見的新衣，在市集巡遊之後回到皇宮。

他向兩個裁縫說:「剛才那小孩說我沒穿衣服，實在蠢得可憐，我決定要在這衫上綉上一個連蠢人也能看見的國徽！」

裁縫聽後連夜逃亡，國王多謝小孩獻上妙計。
