The lost princess - Chapter 5

Mary opened her eyes from her painful sleep

She felt the work of the whip and how the wounds might be probably deep.

She looked around her

But saw nothing near nor far

For the room was totally dark

She cried " oh dear me, all forms of sympathy they lack ".

The prison door opened slowly

And walked in the chiefs daughter with a face so haughty

" I thought you were special,

Cute face, long hair but still among the least

I am not fine skinned but more influential

And with my power you are treated like a beast ".

Mary said " please sofia help me i beg you

Tell them am innocent they will believe what you say "

" Do you know you are a big fool

For I will never help you in any way "

" Why do you hate me so much " mary said in tears

Sofia replied " you should ask that to your eyes or ears

For in your pain I find much fun

And trust me your punishment has just begun".

The chiefs daughter said to the guards " put in her prison light

So she'll see the changes in her skin,

Oh how I wish her prison was more tight

So that she will suffocate and die

At that very place she lie."

Mary remained in her prison for days

Given bad drinks and infected meals

She lived in a worse case

How inferior and rejected they made her feel.

In every third day, mary is brought out and whipped

They do this disregarding her shame

And how could her modest be skipped

But the heartless people took her for a game.

Amidst her torture

A woman screamed " her punishment is enough

Even the worst of all are still given chance to a better future"

But most of the people in her words they scoff.

The chief said " And what do you suggest mary's hero "

The woman replied " you said the culprit would be banned, so why make her go through all this ? "

" That's because she is a witch and all her pains and sorrow

Will give our blessed land peace ".

" If she is a witch then send her out from here

To a place unknown that would be fair"

The chief asked " And who are you to give orders ? "

" I do not my chief I only plea

For this is a slow murder

How long will her punishment continue to be "

The chief thought for long and said " I have only one option if okay with you "

" I hope the option would be a rescue "

" will you accept or not ? "

"I will but just one but "

" A but for what?

" My chief that she will no longer be hurt "

The chief announced " the witch would be sent into the woods

She won't be given any of our foods

The witch would be sent out by midnight fall

She is left to whatever her destiny would call

Beyound the woods are different lands

If she dies before then, her death is no longer in our hands

And to this order I stand".
