Hayley got a call yesterday, inviting her to lunch. At first, she doesn't want to go, but then when she heard that Raeven was invited as well, she accepted the invitation last. Right now, she's in front of her mirror and combing her long black hair when a knock was heard on the other side of the door.
"Come in." She said nonchalantly.
The maid announced that her mother will come home to have lunch with her today, then after that, the maid softly closed the door. Hayley picked up her phone and called her mother. The other line picked up and greeted her lively.
"My lovely daughter, I'll be there in an hour. Do you miss me?"
"I won't be home. You can take your lunch on your own. Someone invited me to lunch." She said. The woman on the other line was quiet for a moment. "Who? Is it a man? Do you have a suitor? Bring him over and let me see." Her mom teased her.
"No. A friend of mine. Got to go. See you later." She said indifferently, then hang up.
She arrived at Angel's house at half-past 11 am and a maid received her. She was led to a spacious living area where she saw Raeven and Angel chatting. Raeven was saying something to Angel while laughing. That was the first time she saw the ice beauty laugh so carefree. She made her way to where they were and seated on the single sofa.
"Hey, Hayley, you missed Rae's misadventure last night," Angel said, still grinning.
Hayley noticed that Angel was a down-to-earth angel with that captivating smile of hers. "Oh?" She asked, raising her eyebrow. She then turned her attention to the female lead. "So, what kind of trouble you got yourself into this time?" She can't help but tease Raeven.
This time?... Angel was confused. "Is there a first misadventure, Rae? When was that?"
Raeven just smirks in Hayley's direction. Then looked at Angel. "There's none. This girl was just teasing me." As if she would tell her anything. As if Hayley knew what she did that day. Hell, it was just a coincidence, okay?!
Angel just placed her hand on her forehand. The reason she invited Hayley after some thought is that she wanted to make Raeven and Hayley deepen their friendship with each other. "Girls, I invited you two so we can be friends. Don't fight, please."
The two looked at her and said in unison, "We're not fighting." They said nonchalantly. The same facial expression and the same tone of their voice.
Silence. Then Angel burst out laughing. "Then, that's good." Angel can't help but think her newfound friends were adorable.
The dining table includes Angel's mom, her brother, herself, and her two guests.
"Don't be shy and eat well. Angel liked to invite her friends here now and then. If anything, I'm the happiest when she brings her friends to meet us." Angel's mom said with a genuine and gentle smile on her kind face.
Hayley noticed that Mrs. Samonte was gentle, just like her daughter. There were few chances where she encountered mothers who genuinely cared for their children and the others. During lunch, she observed Angel's mom. She's not the haughty type kind of mother who always makes her children the main topic of the story. She was considerate, kind, and caring, and she always has a smile on her face. Then she noticed Angel's brother. If she was not mistaken, he was called Adam Mason. He was sneakily looking at Raeven. She smirked.
Miss ice beauty gained yet another admirer!
She had an urge to play them. And she made it a point to nudge Raeven's foot when she catches the idiot looking. That was the time Hayley sent a hint to Raeven and Raeven looked at the idiot brother. The poor brother was caught stealing admiring glances at Raeven.
Raeven just stared at him. The young lad doesn't know what to do. Instead, he just bowed his head and keeps on eating. That time Hayley was trying not to laugh out loud. Raeven looked at the mastermind disdainfully. That was the only mischievousness Hayley did through their entire lunch.
Angel invited her brother to play foosball with them. Adam Mason was happy to join them since he was not in the mood to go outside and play with his friends. And truth be told, he will not go outside knowing his crush was inside his house right now. And maybe he wanted to impress her.
Hayley was sure she can manipulate the circumstances today. She wanted to have fun playing with the idiots' foolish feelings that day. And so, she volunteered to be his first opponent.
"Girl, I want you to know I am not forgiving."
Hayley just places her hands on the handle. "More on the action, less talking." She said, with a hint of laziness in her voice. The game begins and Hayley is unbelievably good at it. 10 minutes was not up and the game was over. Hayley won. The idiot brother asked for a rematch, but the result was all the same. Adam Mason does not understand why this she-devil was so opposed to him. He knew that she was doing it on purpose. He also knew that during lunch a while ago, she was the reason he was caught looking at his crush.
Hayley feels satisfied while looking at the idiot's misery. She felt like laughing, looking at his gloomy face. Angel noticed how these two interact with one another. So, she led Raeven out with the excuse of making some snacks.
When the two were alone, Adam Mason disregarded some courtesy and rudely glare at her.
"You did that on purpose, don't you? This is the first time we met and you already have some bad blood with me? Do you have a crush on me?"
Hayley was dumbstruck. For the first time in her life, a guy told her she has a crush on him? The nerve. She was used to guys head over heels in love with her. She is a charmer. She can seduce a guy without even doing anything.
This immature guy doesn't even know his place... He's the total opposite of her little sister.
Her enchanting looks were enough to seduce them silly. But this guy... Shameless... Adam Mason was not blind not to notice how pretty this girl was. But she has a strong dominating aura, and he doesn't want an intimidating girlfriend. Raeven is much more docile and gentle-looking than this. He knows that his crush was known as the ice beauty, but so what? He will melt her heart little by little and she will be his princess.
"Idiot. Pervert was written all over your face. Raeven is a heartbreaker. She will walk all over you and shatter your heart into a million tiny pieces without even batting her gorgeous eyelashes. I was just giving you a warning." Hayley said, acting a bit exasperated.
Adam Mason can't believe what he just heard. They were not close, but she was putting on a fight already. Hell, he doesn’t need some kind of advice, as if he was rejected. "What is wrong with you?"
Their confrontation was cut short when the two came back. "Hey, Hayley, come on, let's go up to my room," Angel said, but her strained voice. When they were inside the room, Hayley looked at the two. Raeven was poker-faced. Angel doesn't know where to look.
"You two, you were eavesdropping a while ago, right?" She said a bit coldly. Raeven just shrugs and Angel was trying hard not to laugh. Hayley was still looking at the two. "Fine, suit yourselves." She said and then picked up her purse and was ready to leave.
Angel jumped to her feet and held Hayley's arm. And then silence...
"Hayley, you don't know, but you looked so childish there. And so cute." Raeven said teasingly.
Hayley turned to look at her, squinting her beautiful eyes. "What did you say?"
Angel was still holding on to her arms anxiously. She can smell a fight between the two. "Okay, girls. Hayley, don't take it seriously. We mean nothing about it."
Hayley looked at Angel. If she was in her usual b*tch mode, she will talk rudely with her. But since Angel was so nice to her and she subconsciously acknowledges the fact that she is her first true friend... "Why do I feel that I'm being childish in front of you two?"
Raeven looked at her and then smile. Hayley noticed that smile. it was a genuine smile from the ice beauty. How does she know? Because she was familiar with that kind of smile.
"It is because you considered us as your friend already."
That day, the three ladies who came from different families, with different stories and different struggles in life, will be as one. A person that will stand behind others' back and will stick with whatever in the name of friendship.
