“The mind is its own place and in itself can make a heaven of hell and a hell of heaven” – John Milton.
We think too often in our lives. Should I get a small cup of coffee or large size? Should I confess to her, should I not? Should I carry my studies overseas? Should I work in this field?
Ever thought of how our brains can give us an advantage in the game of life?
There is a Chinese Idiom that says to quench one’s thirst by looking up at plums.
It was a story about a leader and his troops.
One day, the leader was marching with his troops when the leader lost his way.65Please respect copyright.PENANA8dLrlsj2dN
The sun was scorching and the journey was long.
After a while of their tiresome march, the soldiers voiced out their dissatisfaction with the leader.
The troops bitterly complained of their great thirst. The leader thought cleverly and told his troops they can stop and rest near the plum trees. He gave orders to march to nearby plum trees for rest.
At the thought of the sour fruit, the soldiers were no longer complaining and before they knew it, they were back at the camp.
There never existed any plum trees.
It is captivating and fascinating how our imaginations affect our mindsets and behaviors. It is a powerful tool that gives us an enormous advantage over the people who refuses to use it in the game of life.
People that do what society tells them to do without question. People that follow orders and do not have an idea of their own.
I believe everyone has the power to imagine. But not everyone puts it into good use.
We are what we think to be.
And we are to create what we think of
– Telephones, Airplanes, rockets to space. It starts with imagination.
Let's try to practice it.
I want you to imagine the symbol of Zero. Did you get it?
Now with the help of your imagination, rotate the number by 90 degrees, then twist it by 180 degrees.
You get a weird-looking symbol that stands for infinity.
Your imagination transforms nothing into everything. Limitless and endless possibilities. As beautifully quoted by Pablo Picasso – “Everything you can imagine is real”
Now, what do you imagine?
