White ash raining, was that my fault?

Have I blown them out, 

every match you gave me?

 

Peer through the keyhole, you’ll see me

The tallest summit; far-off wall of ice

 

Had I built that blackthorn fence?

Your arms got caught, shredded red

Still reaching, God why, for a way

You floundered at the perimeter today

 

It’s outrageous your smile’s contagious

I’m fairly sure you already knew 

That hazel eyes hypnotize

 

Photos spiraling down, was that you?

Maybe you’re somebody to think about

 

Can you tell me how?

How to let my guard down

 

Your lips sewn shut, wrists tied up

You blazed through the battlefield

The dimming minefield years built me

 

I raised up an immovable blade

Slashed both your pretty palms raw

When you tried lowering it down

 

You were just trying to

Subdue the barbed beast
