I slammed the door as my bag plopped on the floor by the couch. My father stared at me with curious eyes as I took a seat on the kitchen stool. I wanted to know who the hell this girl was and who she thought she was talking to me like that. I Dialed my bro Ash only to realize I don't even know her damn name. Dammit.
I quickly hung up as I grabbed a glass of orange juice and gulped it down. My father eyed me with a knowing expression." First day back and already in trouble?" I looked around the shabby place that was supposed to be my home. Braising myself I walked in slowing on my toes trying to avoid all possible contact with my foster dad which was one of the most important goals in my life, but as if the devil enjoyed my suffering, he was right on my bed waiting for me....

My eyes fluttered open and like on que I felt the pain ringing in my head. I felt defeated as I could barely move, stiff with pain. Each time I wished I had just died along with the pain. I stared across the room and knew the only way I was getting off the bed and to the bathroom to see how much damage was done, was falling and crawling over there. I winced in pain as I slowly made my way over there, using the clothes basket for support, I looked in the mirror and saw bruises all over my face, trailing down my arm. One of my eyes were swollen and my stomach was killing me. My breaths were short as I struggled slowly to the secret phone that I had stolen and checked the day. It was Saturday. Which meant I was out for 3 whole days. I walked into school and looked around, I went to the class I know we had together. I took a peek at the register and saw her name but she was nowhere in sight. I thought maybe she came late or was in the bathroom or something, but she never showed. The same thing happened for the next 2 days and I was getting frustrated. There was something about her that was different and as crazy as it sounded it pulled me close to her. I laid in bed staring up at the ceiling, wondering what happened to her. The next few days I took more time at my father's house as I helped training the other members. I had now finished teaching my class about self defense when my phone rang. I picked up the phone and it was ash. Quickly jogging to my car I sped of. I soon came to ash's house and went inside. We had knew each other since young and were best friends.

He looked at me and said "Well I did the background check as you asked and um... Rose is in foster care, her parents went on a last minute trip and got into a car accident on the way back. Sadly they died and she's been in more than enough homes. Her last home wasn't decent. They were drug addicts and when they got high they would hold her down and inject her with the heroine they were using until they eventually overdosed and died of complications at the hospital, so they moved her again and again and again. Each time was for sneaking or bring drugs into the house because at that point she got addicted. The sent her to rehab but nothing worked.
Now she's living with a man named Joe Plaid, who works as a plumber." "that's all I could find." I stared at ash as he was speaking. I felt like my throat was tightening and I could barely breath. I though back to the first time we met, when she was just insulting me. She probably thought I was probably trying to make fun of her.
(flash back) "It looks fine to me". I looked at her as she looked up, her hair moving slightly from her face, but enough for me to see the scar on he cheek bone trailing down her neck. After that class I went and hid outside school. At around 12:00pm I left. I had training and there was no point in me staying (end of flash back)

I slowly stepped down each step and went to the kitchen. Like on command my foster father woke up and looked at me. Avoiding all eye contact I made my way to the kitchen. I felt him behind me and smelt the whiskey on his breath. he came close to my face and whispered
" Now that your up, clean up these damn dishes and cook my food. Make it exactly the way I like it and if your off by a rice grain I'll teach you a lesson to make you go limp for a full week, you understand?"
I slowly nodded my head yes and tried to restrain myself from crying. He was the one person I was afraid of, the one person I couldn't talk back to, the person who some times made me feel like ending it all.

I slowly walked out of my house, the sun glaring in my eyes. I hadn't seen it for days. I was leaving one hell to enter another, but my 'detention center' was way way better than my actual 'prison'. I slowly walked towards school, looking at everyone with their best friends living their best lives.
(after they met)
I watched as the boy next to me fumed. I quickly got up and rushed out of the class as the bell rang and students started entering class. I sat down on the toilet in the stall and pulled out a small packet from my pocket. Pouring out the white powder, I took my ruler from my backpack and formed a line.
A smile crossed my face as I sat back in the stall, life started to feel easier again, just for a moment. The broken down ceiling entered my vision as the cold steel wall connected with my arm and my eyes closed.
*hours later*
Quickly getting up and cursing under my breath I rushed to my home room for registration and again my life came to a screeching halt. The new kid was missing and our homeroom teacher wouldn't let us leave till he was in class. I had no idea where he was, but we eventually got let out 30 minutes later which meant there was no way I was gonna make it home in time and I knew what that meant...
