I watch the daisies float down the stream,

Petals white;

Stems pale green.

The trees around me shift under the weight of the wind,

As if they were fighting a battle they could never win.

Silence surrounds me,

And I find myself calmed.

The roses grow along the sides of the stream,

And as I pick one, I hear a scream.

It seems to come from deep within the forest,

Far beyond reach.

I run towards the sound anyways,

Forgetting the flowers,

The trees,

The quiet little stream.

I force myself to focus on the scream.

Where did it come from?

Where did she go?

If I cannot find her, I will never know.

And then I awake,

To the smell of flowers,

And the giggling scream of my sister,

As she smacks her pillow across my face.

It was only a dream,

But the flowers were beautiful...

And so was the stream.
