娛樂記者阿好因一次到外地採訪，邂逅一位青春偶像，二人發展出一段似幻疑真的曖昧感情。阿好後來轉職為做狗仔隊，更與青春偶像的感情感發展到意想不到的方向。

自五年前出版了第二本小說《87年12歲條女失咗蹤》之後，我立志每年都出一本新書，於是快快手一年就寫了《想跟偶像談戀愛》的七成內容，豈料最後仍敵不過工作及私事的纏擾，拖多兩年才寫了第一稿，前年磨拳擦掌準備出版，社會上又出現翻天覆地的變化。雖然本故事發生於2000年代，無論時代如何轉變，都沒有多大影響，但畢竟若大家的心情都集中在同一件事，亦很難「想跟偶像談戀愛」。本故事有沿用真實人物及真實事件做背景，但情節明顯是虛構的，看過你就會明白。而我心目中的女主角，竟在這五年間結婚之後又火速離婚，證明現實一向比小說出人意表。
