Chapter One
Jennifer Price stood near the windows. She dreamed of a Scottish castle. There were witches, and wizards, in there; there were other girls, and boys, who went there. She wasn't sure her parents knew about the Castle of Magic; she was nine years' old. And going to school meant she wouldn't see it again. The bedroom door was open. 'It's dinner time, Jennifer', her Mum said.
'Okay, I saw a castle today', Jennifer told her.
'Did you?', her Mum asked her.
'Yes, and it was beautiful to look at. I wish I could go to see it', Jennifer answered. Her Mum thought for a moment, then she smiled.
'Maybe we could go', she said.
Jennifer smiled, and knew that the castle was real.
