其实就跟传统的阴阳师一样，阴阳师的诞生就是为了消除或是与妖怪缔结契约，造福人间。

本来是没有在武器上注入灵力的习惯，19世纪末，突然有一群年轻人不满与传统的术式，并将灵力覆盖在武器肆意破坏甚至将其他阴阳师的式神杀死。

直到现在还是有传统的阴阳师抵触这类的阴阳师。

现今虽然妖怪变少了，但是阴阳师少之又少，甚至一年内全世界都不一定会诞生出一个阴阳师。

每当有新的阴阳师出生就会有大量妖怪聚集在阴阳师出生的所在地准备将其杀死。

为了保护好新生阴阳师，政府将产房，床位，甚至是全世界的妇产科医院都会挂上符咒驱赶妖怪。

以防万一，世界组织还发布了一条禁令，不允许任何人堕胎，一但被发现会被当场击毙，以至于全世界老龄化越来越严重，虽然有生育补助，但是还是没有人愿意生孩子。

阴阳师基本都会被国家政府保护，甚至会将幼年时期的阴阳师从母亲身上夺走并交给政府机构抚养16至20岁。
