Doctor Margaret Shearer, MD, gazed at the ten year old girl.

'Are you feeling suicidal? Do you hear voices?', she asked her.

'Yes. They come at night. Midnight. Mom says that I am wicked', Maggie Porter answered.

'It's fine, Maggie. With medication, you shall be better'.

'Will I?'.

'Yes'.

'I saw Barney Traber kill himself. It was last year. He was depressed'.

'Can you remember that?'.

'Yes, he was my cousin. I broke down after that. And I came here', Maggie said. Doctor Shearer nodded.

She knocked on the door.

A nurse arrived.

'Get her a doze of olanzapine'.

'Yes, Doctor'.

She gave the girl the drug, and she went to sleep.

The boy was sneezing.

And he fell downward.

'Help him, please'.

His Mom.

Doctor Shearer focused on the darkness of the situation.

'Do you have a fever?', she asked.

'Yes', the boy answered.

'Why is he sick, Doctor?', his Mom asked.

'People are sick all of the time. They don't die until death comes knocking', Doctor Shearer answered.

'Then he should be in bed'.

'Oh, yes. But he is sick since the Epidemic begun last night'.

'Epidemic'.

'Yes'.

As she knocked on the door, she saw his body slumped on the desk. The computer screen flashed the words: EPIDEMIC IN AMERICA

She raised the alarm bell.
