A century passed since he ever see light. Tartarus has always been famous for its eternal darkness.
"Tired already, Percy? I thought the Hero of Olympus would last much longer." A familiar voice taunts him.
His head hang low, he stares at Kronos with dull and lifeless eyes. Refusing to let out a scream, his punishments become harsher and Kronos become his punisher wasn't helping. Kronos's eyes furrow, clearly not satisfied with the silent treatment the hero is giving him.
That earns Percy another whip at his back, ripping a chunk of his skin off. He bit his lip to prevent from screaming. His punishment goes on for hours until the furies will come and heal him to prepare him for the punishment the next day. It is torture both physically and mentally. Everyday a piece of his sanity will fall and break like glass.
After hours of torture, the Furies come and heal him. His face and body barely recognizable from the beatings he get. He lay there lifeless and containing no signs of strength or defiance.
He has gotten used to his life here.
Sleep, Torture, Heal
It is his daily routine.
He try standing, leaning on a wall to help him. It took a few tries but he succeeds. After standing for a few minutes, he decides to break out of this place. A century had passed, he had forgotten why he is there. He is broken all because of a crime he didn't commit.
He gathers his strength and walk towards the place where he will first start his revenge. The house of Kronos.
Where do you find a better place to than the bastard who torture him for a century. He walk as silently as possible. Percy take the scythe beside the table which tortured him for years. "Time for this bastard to receive the taste of his own medicine." He think to himself.
He stabs Kronos in the chest. Kronos's eyes widening. He try to remove Percy's grip but it is too late. He slice Kronos's neck causing the titan to fade. It is Backbiter after all, it is designed to make Titans fade, even Gods.
He throw down the scythe to the side and collapse to the floor. It has been a long time since he felt this satisfied.
"It feel good didn't it? Seeing your enemies scream and beg while you slowly kill them." A loud laugh echoes in his mind.
He turn around expecting to see a monster or a person but there is no one.
"Who are you? Why are you talking in my mind?"
He don't like it when people randomly talk in his mind.
"I'm you, Percy. Another you. Born from the hatred and contempt you have for others."
Percy's eyes narrow.
"How can I be sure that this isn't a God talking in my head right now?"
The voice chuckles.
"Percy, I will personally gut any being who tries to get in your mind." He say flatly.
Percy still doesn't trust the voice in his head. He isn't surprised that an alter ego has formed inside his head after all the years of torture.
"I will protect you Percy. I will never harm you. After all, we are the same person. There are times where I need to control your body to safe our life but that's it. For now, call me Percival or Val for short." He say in reassurance.
Percy calm down and finally accept it. He will trust Percival for now. He didn't think it is possible for him to trust someone again or even himself. Heaving a sigh, he gather himself. It will be a long climb to the surface.
Climbing to the surface is the easiest plan without alerting any of the gods. He will have to make do for now.
------Time Skip-----
It take for Percy another five years to get to the surface. With Percival with him, he barely survive it. He wonders for a few minutes.
It look like he is in an alley in New York. The buildings are tall and everybody look so busy. He struggle to get up. His arms have no strength considering that he didn't have anything to eat for a few weeks now. Last time he ate, it was only an apple. He didn't have to worry about food in Tartarus since his sentence include immortality in the package.
His vision starts to get blurry. He is about to collapse because of starvation.
"Leave it to me, Percy. I will take care of you."
Percival gain his trust through the life-threatening situations they experienced together. He allow himself to slip away and then everything goes black.
