"Oh, brilliant, Jeremy!" She praised her son. "Absolutely excellent!"
Jeremy smiled, but inside he hit himself.
Only an A in science? All A*'s, that's what a truly perfect student gets.
Jeremy Wood was as close to perfect as you could possibly get without being a robot.
He was sporty, smart, courageous, polite, well-behaved and incredibly handsome.
His mother, who was actually quite strict, was more than happy with her son.
But he wasn't.
He wanted to be absolutely perfect.
And that was what he was going to do.
I will revise, then maybe ask for a retest. I have to get an A*...
"Thank you very much, Mrs Sandoval," Mrs Wood exclaimed. "But I think Jeremy should go home, now."
"Of course."
Jeremy smiled sweetly.
But inside he was crying.
