"Oh, damn it!" I cursed, as I took part in World War III against my locker. I struggled with it for a minute till I couldn't take it and I did what I normally do when I am pissed.
I punched the locker.
And just like that, the locker swings open.
"You've gotta be kidding me," I mutters as I stared at the goddamn thing.
"Keep that in mind when you are battling with it next time," says someone in my ear, startling me.
I swirled around only to be met with the soft brown eyes of my best friend, Alexia. I simply crossed my arms and glared down at the relatively short Alexia.796Please respect copyright.PENANAomrO7dRxtq
"Well, hello to you too Helmi," grins Alexia.
Nobody ever understood how Alexia and I ended up best friends. Me with my temper and Alexia with her cheerful nature.
"You're late," I declared as I continued glaring down at the short girl.
Alexia groans as she replies, "Ugh, Mom was extra fussing over me today".
I softened as I gave my best friend a small smile.
Lex and her mom shared a very close relationship that I always envied. They were better friends than Lex and I.
My mother on the other hand, well, she wasn't exactly that close with me. We were close and all, but I could not share everything with her. Not that I complained. I liked to keep certain areas of my life to myself. My mother never displayed her love to her children. She never cries, always bottling up her emotions. And well, like mother, like daughter, I also learned to bottle it all.
Except one.
Anger.
I simply couldn't manage it. But it also meant that I showed almost every emotion through anger. If I loved someone, I get angry with them the most. If I'm sad, I coped with it by having a burst of anger. Well, you get the idea. The aura was very... dark.
"What class do you have first, Hel?" chirped Lex.
"Math, what about you?" I asked.
"Shit, biology," Lex groans again at the thought of dealing a class without her best friend, a.k.a, me. What could I say? My fans were really... ovoverwhelming.
"Okay, then. See you later, Lex," Helmi raises a hand in farewell as she turns to go to her class.

When lunch break rolled around, we found ourselves, me yawning and Lex, her usual chirpy self, strolling into the cafeteria to meet the rest of my friends.
We were usually seated in a large table in the middle of the hall.
"Hey there, angry bird," called Nat, one of our friends. Nat considered herself as the funniest in the group. Or, the lamest, taking into accouny the standard of her jokes. She was cute with glasses and no one took her words seriously. That girl just didn't know how to talk seriously.
I rolled myneyes at Nat and greeted the others, Lena and Shima.
Shima was a quiet, pretty, nerdy girl who spent a lot of time smiling, which always tired my facial muscles by just looking at her face.
Lena on the other hand, well, she was the type who would die for their friends. She did not have a particularly nice relationship with her parents because for her, friends came first.
"Where are the guys?" I asked as I settled down.
"They had Gym. Probably will be running here drenched in sweat," said Shima wrinkling her nose at the thought.
"Hey, ladies," someone said.
All of us looked up to see four guys flopping onto the table in gym clothes. Their looks attracted people, but none of them went for it, and I don't even understand why. 796Please respect copyright.PENANAMv9b3Ire1B
Andrew, the tallest at 6'4 was blonde with light brown eyes. He was the father of the group and only he can be counted upon to act sensibly in a time of crisis.
Zeke, his best friend, was brown haired with blue eyes. He was an extremely nice boy, that I always wondered how can a person be such good mannered.
Felix was the shortest of them all, but with enough bulk to make up for his lost height. He was really funny, and I often found myself laughing at the idiot's lame jokes.
And lastly, Hector. He was also short but not as short as Felix. He was such a chatty person, and could keep a conversation going till Zombie Apocalypse.
"Hey," I called out lazily. "What did you play today?"
"Oh, just a bit of football," Andrew replied, making me hum in reply.
"By the way, did all of you hear the news?" it was Hector who asked the question.
"Yeah, I heard it on the T.V before I left home, why?" said Nat and started laughing at her own lame joke. Lex, who finds humour in every single thing, started laughing with her.
Noticing no one else laughing at her joke, she groaned as she said, "Oh, come on guys. This was funny. Lex laughed."
"Yeah, she will laugh even if her grandma died. So no surprise there," said Lana.
"One day, you will learn to appreciate my great sense of humour. Mark my words." said Nat.
Everyone rolled their eyes. I mean, how could they not?
"Anyway, what news, Hector?" asked Shima.
"There is a new guy joining this week. And apparently, he is a Greek God," said Hector, who was very much gay.
I choked on my sandwich. "He's a what?"
"In looks, Hel," clarified Felix.
"Well, good for you, Hector. Good luck wooing him," I said.
I never have crushes anymore. I was too old for that stupid stuff, I say. I found guys attractive and that was it. I went no further. The last time I had a crush was in middle school and being too shy, I lost my nonexistent chance. Lex was also the same when it came to guys.
I was finishing her sandwich as she looked around the table. Lana and Shima was talking about something she couldn't bother to listen to, Nat was trying to make up a new lame joke, Lex and Hector were babbling away, Andrew and Felix were guffawing about the game they played today, and Zeke was watching Lex and Hector talking with a sad face.
It was obvious that Zeke had a massive crush on Lex. But Lex, being the oblivious fool she was, never noticed it. You could shout her name in her ear, she wouldn't hear it.
In that way, they were the complete opposites. I could notice every detail down to the shape of the birthmark below the lower lip of someone (because I had no other interesting job). While Lex would ask, "Wait, did they even have lips?"796Please respect copyright.PENANA89S2QnwsWd

She was that dense.
Sighing, I wondered about the new guy. I just hoped that he wouldn't be one of those douches whose head wouldn't get down from the clouds. I just couldn't stand them.
I had no idea how my life was about to change.
