Chapter 1: Exordium
I walked hurriedly through an unfamiliar and chaotic train station, just hoping to make it to the train on time. I glanced down, only for a moment to change the song on my muggle music device, when I collided with the most beautiful boy that I had ever seen.
His initial response was irritated. God forbid I could remember what he muttered. However, when he looked into my eyes, I saw that anger fade. I couldn't tear my eyes away. Taking in his handsome facial features, captivating blue-grey eyes, and unique white-blonde hair, I felt my cheeks flush. Eventually, I remembered to apologize.
With a puzzled stare and quizzical brow, he asked "Who are you?"
"uh, I'm Larsa Kapora. I'm new to Hogwarts. I'm transferring from Ilvermorny." I smiled hesitantly extending a hand.
"Ah," he said with a cocky grin shaking his head, "You're American, that makes sense."
I retracted my hand, crossing my arms. "Why does that make sense." I pressed.
But before he could answer, an older, taller, and more menacing version of him smacked him on the shoulder with a silver-headed walking stick. He winced and I watched his smile immediately disappear. The beautiful boy was now wearing an emotionless expression while staring down at his feet. It both pained and infuriated me to watch this interaction.
The man in a slow displeased drawl, "Draco, you are going to miss the train. What are you doing?"
The boy, Draco nodded his head in response.
"And you are, miss" the man inquired at me with an icy glare. His staredown felt as if he was trying to make me sink into the floor. It worked. I struggled to reply. He smirked, pleased at my discomfort.571Please respect copyright.ＰＥＮＡＮＡeKmDfDJjeK
To my surprise, the boy interjected with "She's new. My father is right, we better get on the train".
The boy refused to look me in the eye after the encounter with his father. He muttered a goodbye once we entered the train and walked off in the opposite direction.
I sat in the first empty train car that I came across.
I thought about the boy. Then reflected about my own father and how different our experiences must be.
The sound of the doors opening jolted me out of my thoughts.

Turns out we are in the same year, fifth.
Once we exited the train, Neville led the way towards the carriages. There I was introduced to his friends Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. It was dark and I felt a wave of uneasiness in the air. We exchanged simple pleasantries when Harry interrupted with "What is it."
I turned to see what he was looking at and I was shocked to see a chilling dinosaur-like horse pulling the carriage. The others insisted that there nothing there.
"I can see it too." I croaked.

Which no one around me seemed to be comforted by, I on the other hand liked Luna immediately.
Once we arrived at the school, I spotted the white blonde mop of hair in the crowd but lost sight of him. An older woman with a kind face, who I now know to be Professor McGonagall, called me over to her. I thanked Neville for his help and company. I waved goodbye to the others.
She led me into the great hall. I was in awe at the sight of the enchanted night sky. She informed me that I would be sorted first, before the 1st years.
I sat anxiously under the sorting hat wiping the sweat off my hands on my jeans.
I jumped a bit when the sorting hat first spoke "You are a leader if one is needed but not when someone else elects to. Resourceful but are not cunning or overly ambitious. The table covered in yellow roared with encouragement and excitement.
I met a talkative redheaded girl named Susan Bones when I sat down at the Hufflepuff table. She observed that my sorting took an abnormally long amount of time but attributed it to my older age. A charming and obviously handsome older boy from across the table chimed in with his thoughts on the matter, saying "No it's probably because she had too many of the other house qualities, isn't that right Larsa." he grinned.

Over the course of the evening, I found Neville's eyes and he seemed supportive of my placement as did Luna. The blonde boy however gave me a sour look to which I'll admit hurt a bit.
A new teacher was introduced, Professor Dolores Umbridge, a name that at the time I had no idea how much I would grow to loathe. She was dressed from head to toe in pink, a color I used to love but now only associate with her. She gave an odd and confusing speech that seemed very polite on the surface but with a threat hidden underneath.
The rest of the dinner was a blur of tasty food and new information.
Before heading to bed, my presence was requested by Dumbledore in his office. He offered me his condolences for my parents and specifically, that my father was a great student in his day and that he had never met my mother but had heard great things.
"Thanks, Professor, I appreciate it. I must be honest, I'm so very tired of hearing condolences'' I stated matter of factly.
"I understand. I know you were settled and doing well at Ilvermorny but I know your father would have loved to see you here and I'm hoping a change in scenery will be good for you'' He replied in a somber yet hopeful tone.
I simply nodded in response. He also informed me that since my transfer was such short notice I would be rooming alone. Which is both a good and bad thing I think.
The entrance to the Hufflepuff dormitories and the common room is concealed by a pile of large barrels near the kitchen. Unlike any other house, the Hufflepuff common room has a repelling device that covers the imposter in vinegar if the wrong lid is tapped or the rhythm is wrong. Which makes me extra careful when tapping the barrels to get in. From the warm and comfy common room, there are many little tunnels leading to the dormitories. All of which have perfectly round doors, like barrel tops, which I find very satisfying.
When I finally arrived at my room, I was pleasantly surprised that all my clothes have been unpacked and put away and my bed already been made. My pictures and knick nacks however were still in a box. I thought of Dumbledore and that perhaps it was on purpose, to assist in the "change of scenery".
I went to bed that night as soon as I could, completely exhausted.
