Sophie
I'm walking down the halls of school, when I see Kayla standing at her locker with her friend. I walk up to her.
"Kayla". Her friend looks at me in surprise.
"Yes"
"Let's go to the library and study for our biology quiz"
"Are you sure you're talking to the right person". Her friend asked
"Yup" I say to the friend and turn to Kayla "Are you coming"
She nods, picks up her backpack and we head to the library.
Once we get to the library Kayla settles down in on one of the many tables and stares up at me.
"What"
"Sophie, I hope you know i'm not stupid. You can't tell me because our parents got kidnapped that we are suddenly study buddies".
"That's true" I say nonchalantly
"So why did you ask me to come here"
"because"
"Because" Kayla said persuading me to continue.
I sat down beside her and leaned in close. Even though the library was practically empty.
"I thought about what you said yesterday"
"Which is"
"About our parents having some sort of past" She looked taken aback but she quickly recovered and said "Do they"
"Yes" she didn't say anything showing that she expected me to continue." They all went to this school"
Kayla abruptly stands up and starts maneuvering book shelves. I on the other hand follow her until we get to a bookshelf stacked with yearbooks. Kayla moves slowly down this aisle studying every yearbook then she stops in front of one and pulls it out.
"Kayla what are you planning to do with the yearbook"
"It can't just be going to school that ties our parents it has to be something deeper, if it was because of school everyone who have parents that went to this school should have had their parents kidnapped"
I stand above her watching her look for something that I doubt is there. Then she stops on a page and gasped, she raises the page to my face way to close I push the book down and staring back at me are my parents, Nate's mum, Kayla's mum and Dick's Dad. I can not believe it they were all on the swim team.
Kayla pulls out her phone and takes a picture of all the members on the swim team.
"Kayla what are you going to do with that"
"I'm going to track them down and find my mum"
"What are you crazy, we should give it to the sheriff"
"The sheriff" she gives a humorless laugh"The sheriff and his officers are a bunch of lazy asses"
"Even though I completely agree it still doesn't make sense for you to go out there by yourself going to random stranger's houses"
"Then come with me"
"What!!!"
"Please Sophie I don't like living alone"
"What about your dad" her face darkens and I start to wonder whether she's just going to walk away or not say anything.
"I don't know who he is, or where he is or if he's even alive" her face softens and she looks like she's about to cry. I know we aren't exactly friends but i'm not heartless so I pull her in for a hug, she surprisingly accepts and we stand there hugging until the bell goes.
Kayla puts the yearbook back and we are about to head to our different classes when I stop her and say "I'll come with you"
Kayla
After school Sophie and I were strolling the streets of Sandiville checking the address book in every phone booth we came across and still hadn't found any address of any of the members of the swim team except our parents.
We were about to give up when Sophie spotted a phone booth near the gas station and walked up to it. Then she shouted to me that I should pick up the pace.
I walked into the phone booth and scanned through the address book. I landed on the 'M' section until I spotted a name, Mark Benson. I pulled out my phone and checked the list, Mark Benson that's the name of the coach and he only lives a few blocks away.
"Sophie we are going to the coach's house" I turned to her excitedly.
"Where does he live"
"A few blocks away" Sophie gave a thoughtful look like she was strategizing then she nods. I take a picture of his address and leave the booth.

We arrived at his house in a few minutes. Sophie raised her hand to knock then she paused, looked at me and said "Kayla Roden we are about to walk into a strangers house with no protection whatsoever" I huffed as I prepared for the preaching she was going to give me.
"How do we know he wasn't the one who took our parents, If my parents knew I was doing this they would have scolded the life out of me. But I want to this, why? because I have never ever done anything so defiant, I've always been crammed inside my whole life so i'm going to live a little while my parents are gone, but know that if he is the kidnapper I will rain down on you like the dawn of kingdom come, do you understand me" I have to say I wasn't prepared for what she just said so I just nodded and she turned her head then knocked.
We waited for a few minutes before the door opened very slowly revealing a bald elderly man, I was starting to fear we got the wrong house.
"Who might I ask are you" the man said talking to me before craning his neck towards Sophie then his mouth fell open. He openly pointed at Sophie "you're the Baker's daughter" before I could stop Sophie she nodded.
The man standing above us looked behind us as if looking for someone, then he opened his door wider moving aside for us to come in. Sophie reached for my hand and squeezed it. We walked into his house holding hands. He shot the door behind us and bolted all his locks.
Sophie raised her eyebrow at him. He looked at her and smiled and said "I installed the locks ever since your parents got kidnapped, I was thinking the kidnapper was going to come for me too" Sophie gave a curt nod.
I looked around taking in my surroundings everything about the place was retro. I looked back at him and asked "Are you Mark Benson"
"Yes I am, you know you remind me of your mother very cautious" I heard Sophie snort and mutter "Cautious you must be mistaken"
Sophie let go of my hand and walked over to the couch and sat down. Without wasting anytime she started talking "Mr Benson i'm sure you know why we are here"
"Yes. though you are not the people I expected to see"
"And who exactly did you expect to see"
"The sheriff and his officers, but I guess they haven't figured out what tied your parents together"
Sophie snorted and continued" Mr Benson do you think there was anybody on your swim team who would want to get revenge on our parents" Mark looked like he was thinking before he answered.
"Actually there is one of my players that I can think of"
Sophie looked interested while I stood there staring at the coach and his movements. "Really, tell me everything" Sophie said. Mark sat down across from Sophie and started his tale.
"His name was Kay Klumper, the only member of my team that couldn't swim. He was certainly a brainiac though. He aced every class but gym. You see you're parents when growing up were as thick as thieves, the best of friends. They were also the best of swimmers on my team. They never let anyone into their group, most people just gave up and lived with it but Kay never gave up he kept on trying different antics to get into their group. Until they finally graduated and went their separate ways."
Sophie looks so excited when he's done telling the story" So we have found our abductor"
Mark tilts his head to the side as if not understanding her then it dawns on him what she meant and he says " Hold on there Preston junior, Kay committed suicide three years ago"
