Why does she chase those red doors,

the ones with no handles in sight?

Silver candles slight behind silver coin eyes,

why does she sleep beneath an ocean of plight?

Flecks of amber and blue she does keep;

Always swimming, swirling in her mind.

Why does she hum to misty songs,

when what she wants just never comes?

Patience was found in a handshake

only held up by a string.

Why does she tie herself to threads of black and gold,

when she knows that the ground she treads on is crumbled and old?
