“Sorry” she mouthed to her mother, Andre sighed “hey mama, I won’t be able to eat with you guys today. I have a meeting with the school council” he lied. Andre WASNT apart of the council, he normally kept to himself and didn’t like socializing with people he would never understand.
His mother smiled “that quite alright dear, but atleast take some toast on your way there” she said lovingly. He nodded grabbing some toast “thanks mama! I’ll be home soon!” He called. She smiled and nodded as she waved before looking at Marie “now. What have I told you about bringing up joline.” She snapped, Marie frowned “sorry, not my fault she turned into a psycho” she mumbled, he mother glared and Marie shrugged.

She giggled as he spun her around, dipped her and made her sing in joy. It’d been a year sense they met and saved lorance from the forgotten place. As they danced the queen of the remembered watched happily her hat glowing brighter as she stood and made her way towards them. Andre sat on the rock near the stream like he did every day of the dead with joline, hoping joline would see him now and appear out of nowhere. Andre watched the water noticing a glimpse of it spark then disappear. Andre stared, he knew water didn’t spark, and he also knew that there was now something floating through the stream.

The object was round, with waves going opposite ways on opposite sides. It glowed a bright jade green as he held it before sitting back on his rock and staring at it. “What...is this...” he mumbled turning it only for it to slip from his hands and land on the ground. It sparked just like the water and Andre was surrounded by light.
He fell backwards off the rock before a figure in the shape of a cat appeared looking at him. The cat wasn’t normal, it was jade green but it looked like it was made of wafts of smoke as it made its way towards him. He hesitated but took the small scroll that hung from the collar and unrolled it, ‘make a wish, a wish you won’t regret, and it’ll be granted’ he read, he raised an eyebrow and looked around. He sighed and bit his lip “a wish huh...” he held the scroll sitting up and looking at the stream. “Okay...” he mumbled before taking a deep breath “I wish...that- that joline came back just for today...” he whispered towards the sky.

Andre stared horrified before running to his home to warn his mother and Marie who always stayed to do household chores. “MAMA! MARIE!” He screamed slamming the gate open and running into the kitchen. “Andre? Dear what’s the matter? You look as if you saw a murder” she said, Andre huffed “I did, mama everyone in the plaza just dropped dead!” He said, Marie scoffed “I think your just making up stories again.” She snapped.
His mother stared horrified listening and not hearing any music “no...Marie- I think he’s telling the truth” she said. Marie looked at her in disbelief “listen...no music.” She said before something outside their house clattered to the ground. They all shook next to each other as the sound of wet drips and steps drew closer into the kitchen.
”your MAJESTY!” Someone from her court screamed, her majesty turned looking at the member and raised an eyebrow “yes, jakob?” She replied. He huffed “demon 329 was summoned into the earth realm!” He shouted. She looked around as jakob followed her his teeth chattering in fear, she whipped around towards him “how did it escape?” She snapped. Jakob shrugged “it just disappeared...” he said. She stopped as her amulet appeared in the cell, “what?” She mumbled opening the cell and walking in picking it up.
“Someone made a wish.” She said horrified looking at jakob “bring me joline and lorance now.” She ordered. Jakob nodded and scurried off. The queen looked back at the amulet before hitching her dress up and slamming her foot on the ground the whole room turning to what looked like gold before appearing as a gold and ruby library.
Marie held her hands over her mouth holding in a scream as the footsteps stopped outside the pantry, a liquid substance seeped into the room from the crack of the door that smelled like metal. It looked like joline but drenched in blood and mold, she was decaying and everywhere she walked she killed people seemingly like the red death plague. “Andre~” it called in a raspy shivering voice. Locking eyes with him his mother screamed just as a sharp object sliced through its heart from the back and was sliced threw from above. Joline landed on her feet as lorance put his sword back in its holster, “that must’ve been horrific “ lorance said walking into the dark pantry and holding out his hand to the others. Andre sighed and nodded “yeah...got it” he said, she smiled “well lorance let’s head back” she said grasping hands with him. Andre locked eyes on their hands frowning as they turned to leave through a Smokey portal “joline!” Andre shouted. Joline stopped and glanced at him “hm?” She hummed. “I- I um...I missed you...” he said. Joline frowned and looked at lorance who raised an eyebrow “I missed you too- weirdo” she said with a smile before disappearing.
Andre’s mother took off her shoe and whacked him upside the head with it “YOU WISHED ON AN AMULET?! WHAT HAS THIS FAMILY TAUGHT YOU ABOUT THAT!” She scolded, Marie giggled “I’m sorry mama!” He retaliated just as the music in the plaza started to play again. They smiled.
