The Collector's Ship
"C'mon Rocket. Once! Just once, dude."
"I know the likes of you Quill! YOU WILL DO THIS EVERYTIME. EVERY- FLARKEN- TIME. I WILL-"
"Shhh... Rocket. SHHH.... You will inform the entire ship, man!" Quill said. With great discomfort, Quill moved his hands towards his temples and tapped, his face contorted into a glare as the helmet receded.
"YOU KNOW I WILL TELL GAMORA!!! GAMOOORRAAAA!!! GREEN WOMAN! WHERE ARE YOUUUUU!!! LOOK A-"
"Dude. DUDE! You remember that time? That time in the ship? Gamora was out? And you wanted to know what that gel thingy in the bathroom was? The gel thingy that turned foamy when rubbed? Got you all sparkly? That was Gamora's. "
Quill made an earnest face at the holo, making an extra effort in widening his eyes. There wasn't much he could do to make himself look grave and earnest when he was stuck in a narrow pipe that could barely fit his shoulders but hey! He was Starlord man!
The ranting Trash Panda stopped mid speech, a weird look crossing his face as he took in Quill's words.
"Really?" Rocket asked, a look of curiosity on his face.
"Really man. And you know right how she adores her stuff? Yeah dude. I see you understand. So yeah. Deal. BYE!" Quill waved and the holo cut off as Quill imagined the raccoon ranting and spitting at him.
He crawled along the pipe, going through all the excuses he'd collected over the course of his brilliant life as a Ravager. Gamora would most likely have his head and yes, he truly felt he should be searching for his lost teammate Mantis but, but opportunities don't always present themselves at your feet. The entire team was looking for Mantis. Surely, they wouldn't need him.
Reaching a sealed end to the tunnel, Quill wriggled on his belly, trying to reach for the detonator. In the darkness of the tunnel, the legendary outlaw fumbled for the small press detonater.
He went through the stuff in his pocket, lipstick? What the heck was it doing there? His torn wallet. An old key he had forgotten the use of. A pocket mirror. And yes. The press detonator. That he did not regret stealing from that Trash Panda.
As the sealed doorway quietly dislodged from its hinges, Quill descended onto the metallic floor of the ship, doing a quick tuck and roll.
" Nice move, Starlord!", Quill whispered to himself. Dragging himself upright, Quill waltzed towards the center of the hall, winking at the little flappy lizard in the vivarium.
Reaching the pedestal, Peter set hinself to work. He fiddled with the contraption to the side of the pedestal, basking at the nice job he had done.
As the force field around the Golden Cube lifted, Quill took the exquisite little cube in his gloved palms. The outlaw brought the cube closer to his careful eyes, shaking the box and thwacking it with his fingers.
If someone was willing to give three million units for this damn box, the contents must be pretty juicy huh?
Quill had planned to saunter out the room just as he'd sauntered into the room, with ease. Except, it never went as planned.
The pedestal burnt bright, and a forcefield emanated around it, enlarging in size, getting bigger and bigger and oh damn bigger.
As sirens buzzed around the hall, Quill ran away fron the approaching force field, cursing Yondu all the way. The techniques he'd learnt were getting old man! And he had a damn reputation to uphold!
As streams of Robots poured in, Quill fished out his element blaster, switching the settings to bone freezing cold. Blasts of freezing winds hit the robots, turning them into robosicles.
"Damn, I miss popsicles." Quill murmured and as loud music blasted through the speakers in his belt, Quill skated through the ice on the floor, mouthing lyrics at the live specimen enclosed round the chamber.
As the laser guns detached from their resting spots on the walls, Quill crashed against a hanging terrarium, shards of glass scattering on the floor.
"Oh no! Stop shooting. C'mon! You'll hurt little guy here!" Quill yelled taking the tiny lizard from the broken vivarium in his hands, the Cube balanced at the crook of his arm, as he juggled between fighting robots, dodging lasers and protecting little Lizzy here.
He looked at Lizzy here (whom he decided to make his pet)and frowned as the lizard starting looking redder and redder and bigger?
Showers of lasers grazed past him, as Quill disbalances, the large no longer Lizzy lizard getting bigger and bigger and well, Bigger.
The now Dragon hits the roof, blasting out fire from his mouth, as the robots turn into fried chips, Quill hanging onto the scales of his neck.
As the dragon stamps at the robots and swerves round the too little for him chamber, swarms of specimen break free from their enclosures, wrecking havoc.
His Lizzy blasts through the roof, spreading out its giant wings and thrusts into space, huffing and puffing out fire from its nostrils.
Peter positions himself at the top of the Dragon, tucking in the precious cube and watches as the ship blasts into pieces, the debris floating off into space.
He can only hope the Collector doesn't charge him the bill.
"Here comes PETER THE DRAGON RIDER!!! Quill yells through his helmet and holds onto Lizzy as she curvets through space.
Now, if he could just bring up a nice excuse.
