Petals fall from your eyes

And the pattern formed on the floor

Only serves to sadden you more

When you realise

That it spells you a flower of wilt and decay

Your life and beauty temporary

Though, truly, not nearly so ordinary

As that of a perennial bloomer;

If only for a single season

You bring another colour to this garden

Previously unseen

And never to be seen again
