二Ｏ二Ｏ年，一種名叫邪惡的病毒在全球肆虐，五年內，全球感染者數字達地球人口六成，死亡人數超過六億。各國政府束手無策，紛紛封閉邊境，市民搶奪資源，做成空前恐慌。受疫情影響的國家人民生命備受威脅，除了形成大量難民逃亡潮外，某些國家的人民更通過武裝力量伺機而動，觸發革命，最終領土分崩離析，地方軍事勢力各據一方，導致更多侵略和併吞，人人自危。三十年後，新興勢力掘起，一些野心政治家結合財閥力量組成科技聯盟，利用免疫學和遺傳工程改做人體，使人類對病毒免疫，期間某種人還獲得嶄新能力，能駕馭體內潛藏力量，名為馭者，成為各地政府招攬的新興力量。
