「遺傳性增血病」，人稱「狼人病」，患者為男性，由於「狼人」體內血量過多，需自製「儲血筒」，「狼人」發病時口腔會分泌毒液以及咬別人，亦即是製造「吸血鬼」。

「缺血病」，人稱「吸血鬼病」，患者身體因毒液而無法造血，因此長期處於貧血狀態。但若原宿主已死，「吸血鬼」會對血和性的需求只會一直保持極高狀態，因此有大量患者死於貧血和愛滋。

這兩種病的源頭沒人清楚，有人說來自落後國家，總之沒有人敢承認，而這兩種病亦早擴散到世界每一個角落。為控制擴散速席，各地政府推行了各種措施，包括教育新一代。
