在太陽系的地球上充斥著各種豐富而不科學的傳說：北歐神話的諸神的黃昏，所羅門王的72柱魔神，或是傳說中的古神克蘇魯。這些神秘的傳說對地球人來說可能是騙小孩的，但其實都是在我們觀星一族一一見證下而所記錄的歷史,就好比像地球的歷史一樣，都是曾經存在過的。


故事是講述還是見證者階級的少年艾文，在動當盪不斷的地球上執行任務，歷盡生命的脆弱及人性的醜陋等考驗。究竟他能否通過考驗？又能不能了解自己作為觀星一族的天命？
