Cameron asked me to homecoming. He wants to go as friends, but I still made him ask Cali if it was okay. He is her ex after all, even if she did cheat on him. I have a best friend code I need to follow.
It still makes me laugh to think about, but I had a crush on his dumb ass back in 9th grade. Good thing I got over that, otherwise it would be really awkward to go as friends.

I still can't stop laughing! The dance was great; Cameron danced with me all night! But that's not what made it hilarious. Okay, let's start from the beginning:
I wore a pretty low cut dress, so I definitely had lots of cleavage. I caught his eyes wondering lower than they should be multiple times. I finally got to say the line from the movies! "Hey, my eyes are up here!" And oh man the look of horror on his face! It was great! And it's nice to finally feel sexy.
When we would slow dance he kept moving his hands closer to my butt, but I kept grabbing his hands and moving them back up. His hands felt like little bits of electricity touching my skin. Just like in the books. I have to admit I was pretty excited and jittery. I wasn't going to stop his hands the next time, but he stopped and said, "What's it going to take for me to touch your ass?" I have to admit this definitely caught me off guard, so I just said, "You have to be my boyfriend."
So he asked to be my boyfriend.
Who the fuck asks someone out like that?? I told him he would have to give me a reason to date him. I gave him the weekend to think it over and he would have to tell me at school Monday.
He thought that was dumb and asked why he had to do that. I said my ex Nate had to do that. That was a huge lie. Nate started dating me last year after he asked me to homecoming. I was so not ready for a boyfriend. I was also terrified of what Mom would do if she found out I had a boyfriend. I broke it off pretty early and decided to wait.
Anyway, I'm getting off track. Cali slept over and we had to drive Cameron home. While we were waiting on Mom to pick us up, I was really hoping Cameron would kiss me. Last night felt like a movie, I wanted to end it like one.

Cameron found out I lied to him. He texted Nate and asked what he has said forme to agree to date him. Nate told him he didn't have to do that, so when I walked into school this morning he was waiting with a frown. It might have been kind of cute if I wasn't so nervous.
After making sure it was okay with Cali, I agreed to date him. Surprisingly he didn't take advantage of his new status to touch my butt. Of course, I only agreed to date him for experience before I start college. This isn't going to go anywhere.

I've been going on lots of double dates with Cameron lately, but this one takes the cake.
We went to the local theater to watch Medea Boo 2. It wasn't my first choice of movie, but it was basically the only movie playing. The couple that we went with made out through the movie anyway. I kept my hand on the armrest the whole movie hoping he would hold it. No luck, but every time his shoulder brushed against mine I felt the little tingles of electricity.
When we left the theater it was pouring and freezing. We decided to meet at the local Wendy's and have dinner. When we finished, the other couple snuck into his car to make out a little more. I had to bring her back, so I stood in the freezing wind and rain talking to Cameron for a few minutes before he invited me inside your truck.
I remember how nervous I was. Like I was hooked up to a generator, almost vibrating. When saw the other girl run through the rain to my car. I knew it was time to go. I told Cameron to bend down because I had planned to kiss him on the cheek, but he put his whole head down and I kissed the top of hit. When he looked up he was bright red. "Oh," was all he had to say.
I had expected the kiss to feel like electricity, but instead, it had warmed me to my core. Like when you step too close to the bonfire. The cold wet walk to my car didn't bother me at all.

We kissed on the lips for the first time today. It wasn't like the movies. It was super awkward and fast and closed mouth. The location wasn't ideal either, a shell station parking lot. But that doesn't matter. The feeling of his arms around me and his soft lips against mine still won't leave my mind. Not to mention the warmth that spread through me again. It felt like wildfire.

I finally understand. The 'love' they describe in books and movies is electric and fast because it's not love, its lust.
Instead, love takes root deep in your soul and burns slowly. It's not perfect, it's not fast, it's not to be taken lightly. Once its there you can never fully put it out. It rages and warms you from the inside. You can never be fully satisfied without it. It's scary, but the rewards are worth the risks.
