Change. It was said that it is the only constant thing in this world. How ironic because people don't change that fast.

In my 24 years of existence, never once have I not followed my philosophies and beliefs. I manage to protect myself against the heartaches and dependence. I was able to stand on my own. Well, that's what I thought. Neither did I know, I messed it up long time ago.

Marcus is my best bud. We have known each other since we are young. We bobd as if we are brothers. We sharee each others sorrows, happiness and grief.

"Why don't you just give-in in love? You heartbreaker." Marcus said while we are hanging out around their house. I knew he will say that sooner or later. I had tons of past relationships yet I never had a broken heart.

"Don't wanna." I replied short.

"Come on Luke! How old are we? Don't you want to have a stable relationship even just for once?" the persistent Marcus said back. "I don't need anyone." I simply shrugged him off.

This is true. I need no one. I am fine on my own.

That's what I thought until a year passed.

"Luke, I'm getting married!" Marcus happily said at me which left me in a shock.

I didn't knew that he have a girlfriend now. He was always with me. When did he start daying again? Married? Seriously?

"Is that so? When?" I asked. My voice is shaking. Hold it in.

"About a mont... What's wrong Luke? Tears of joy?" Marcus snikkered. Obviously this is not joy. I am baffled. 

That's right, I was stucked up in my own philosophy, in my own accord. It was all my fault. I let myself got too attached to Marcus to the point I blindly fell in love with him.

He was always with me. I never see his worth as what I have been feeling for me. Now, he'll be gone. He'll be with someone else. We can never share the stuff again. Because all along I was never his partner.

"Yeah. Good for you Marcus, you found the love of your lifetime." still crying, I smilled.

I excused myself, why I didn't feel that I messed up since the beginning? So this is what heartbreak feels like. It hurts. So bad I can't breathe.

I can't sleep. Maybe this is the right time to confess. He is my friend and I love him. After this, I'll stay away.

"What's wrong Luke? Miss me?" Same old Marcus. I'm gonna miss him.

"I just need to tell you something. Marcus I-"

"What? You're ready to be my best Ma-"

"I love you Marcus... I'm sorry." I said in his midsentence and decided to run away. Run as fast as I could. I faced my fear. I did not run away in the situation but, what's the point of me running after I said what I felt?

"God dammit Luke!" Marcus was still behind me. "Since when! Tell me since when!" With that, I stopped running and faced him again.

"I don't know. I took it for granted." then he hug me.

"Why? This marriage is just a mistake. I got her pregnant in a one night stand." This explains everything. 

"You said you don't need anyone. Then what am I to you? When you said those things, I had decided to take responsibility as the father of the child. I can't go back now." He was crying. I caused pain to Marcus.

"I love you Luke." Tears kept on falling in his cheeks.

"I love you too Marcus."

"It's time to take photos of the bride, groom and the bestman!"

"You look lovely Janeth." I smiled at her. her tummy has a big bump now.

"Thank you Luke. Thank you for being a friend of my husband." she shook my hand and then we stood with each other to pose for the picture.

"Ready 1-2-3 smile!"

And with that, Marcus held my hand behind us and trace a heart in my hand.
