We live in a world

where freedom is rare

both for the young and the old.

I'm black as the night

so I put up no fight

when the whites come and rule our lives.

I see them young ones

runnin' round and having fun

because they don't truly understand.

They just know they're different

from those other misfits 

who run around and show their white skin.

In the parks and bus stops

restrooms, returaunts 

waterfountains, all the world

is spread so far apart.

All this over the color of our skin,

because it's so black and different

we live in a world

where freedom is rare

when the whites come and rule our lives.
