I will never be like you

I will not be the monster my children hide from

I will not be the looming fear

And I will never be like him

I will never use power as an advantage

I will never turn into such a monster

I will not be the darkness that looms

I will not be the creeping dread

You may break my soul

Break my heart and my bones

You may beat me

Torture me

Break my soul

You may even kill me

But I will never be a monster

Not like her

Not like him

And not like you.

When glass shatters

It forms a new

Substance

Shattering into

Pieces on the floor

A bottle slammed down

A window broken

Someone, something

Thrown onto the floor

Glass bones

Glass souls

Glass hearts

All shatter together in

Unison

Their sound like

A band

A glass drum

Glass guitar

Glass makes

The prettiest

Dangerous

Sounds

The cold envelopes me

Tugging at me

Pulling me to it

To keep me away

From things that might 

Hurt me

After all

We

Can't have that,

Now can we?

The cold speaks

With a voice that is

Sweet

Like sugar

But too sweet

The kind of sweet that

Makes you sick

And he

He is the cold

But the warmth calls to me

As well

The warmth tells me that

It is okay

He can't hurt you

Everything is

Fine

And she

Oh, she

She is the warmth

She is my light

I live for the warmth
