"Fuck fuck fuck" I stumble towards the bathroom but didn't notice my bag sprawled on the ground. My leg gets stuck in the straps and I go tumbling to the floor. Shit!
Releasing a strangled scream I lay on the floor. Giving up I stare at the white ceiling. Moments pass by when my door is slammed open. There stands Aubrey, her red hair all over the place indicating she rushed here in a hurry. She scans my room with her eyes wide. I mean I don't blame her, my room at the moment is worse than my little brothers... and that's saying something.
"What the fudge Laura?" I sigh and throw my hands in the air.
"It's not my fault."
3 Hours Earlier
The sun shines into my eyes as I stretch my arms over my head. I smile remembering my date with Dante. I was surprised that I got some sleep, I'm pretty sure I didn't sleep till late last night. Shrugging I force myself out of bed and trudge towards the bathroom.
Still in my pajamas, I stumble down the stairs rubbing my knuckles on my eyes to get rid of the drowsiness. With one last yawn and I plop myself onto the stool. My eyes drift around the room surprised to see it deadly quiet. Picking myself up I go over to a yellow sticky note sticking out of the fridge.
I took out Noah and Diana for ice-cream... Your breakfast should be wrapped in the far corner of the table.

I furrow my brows and smirk as I see burned edges on the corner of the stove. Chuckling I unwrap my breakfast and dig in. I release a content sigh when I was finished washing the dishes. Now I can get ready in peace.... I squeal and race up the stairs. Skipping towards my closet I sling it open. I look through the set of clothes after a while panic starts to settle in.
I couldn't find the top!
Maybe it's just buried in the piles of clothes?... After my third search I had thrown half of the clothes from my closet onto the floor. I pull my hair in frustration. Where the hell did it disappear to? My eyes slowly drift towards my bed and my eyes widened more than before. The time read 5 pm on the alarm clock.
I slap my hand on my forehead. That's why it hadn't rang. I fuckin slept through all the sets of alarms. I scramble up and run towards my phone. Hurriedly I press speed dial to Aubrey's number. Yes, I had her number on speed dial. After the third ring she finally picked up.
"What do you want so early in the morning Laura?" Her voice came out scratchy and groggily, like she had just woken up.
"Aubrey did you just wake up?" I speak slowly hoping to be wrong.
"Yes...why?" I try to control my breathing before I have a panic attack.
"Check the time.." I speak as calmly as I could. I wait a moment before I hear a series of colorful words coming out from her mouth before a huge thud, which I assumed to be her falling off the bed.
"Laura?... What time did Dante day he was going to pick you up?" I look through our texts with shaking hands. Shit
"6. He's picking me up at fuckin 6" I breathe out in frustration.
"Okay calm down. I'll be right there." I nod and close the call. Throwing the phone onto my bed I continue my search for the top. No luck. That's when I look back at the clock. 5:20.
Now
"Well why were you sleeping so late." I groan and run my hands through my hair.
"I have no fuckin clue..." Then I remember us drinking that smoothie in the mall from a cute little stand and my eyes widen.
"It was that old geezer at the smoothie stand. I saw him putting some weird powder in our smoothie." I brushed it off as I though it was some kind of flavor enhancer. I then turn towards her in panic.
"That's not our biggest problem though..." She raises a brow.
I look anywhere but her. "I lost the top we bought." I expected her to start screeching or skip right to killing me but she just stands there smirking.
"You mean the same top I found on the front door step when I came in?..." I almost cry out in relief as I saw her holding the cute top in her right hand. Not giving it a second through I scramble up from the ground and engulf he in a deadly but loving embrace. She chuckles and pat my back.
"I'm amazing I know." Any other time I would counter attack but right now I just nod.
"I really don't know what I'd do without you.." She pulls away smiling.
"Okay flatter me any more my ego might just burst." I chuckle at her honesty.
"Now come on let's get you ready for this date.." I smile and let her drag me away to do god knows what.
After much protest from me and threats from Aubrey we had decided to finish my face with light makeup. I look in the mirror smiling. It wasn't like those cliche times where the girl is transformed. You could still see me underneath the light makeup, but looking at myself all groomed up in such a long time sent a fuzzy feeling through out me. Aubrey really knows what she's doing. Realizing I've been staring at myself for a while I look over myself one last time before nodding in approval and heading out.
A smile appears on my face as I see Aubrey passed on my bed. Guess the sleep doze hadn't exactly worn off yet. I pick up my blanket from the ground and cover her body in it.
"Thanks Aubrey" She mumbles something incomprehensibly and turns over. I chuckles and look at the time. Surprisingly we had done everything with ten minutes to spare. I smile and decided to clean up my messy of a room.
Huffing I finally pick up the last of the scattered clothes. I look around approvingly to see a room where you can walk without falling over. I turn and stuff the last of the clothes into my closet when something caught my eye. A wooden box at the very back of my closet. I bend over and slowly slide it out.
I dust off the thin cover of dust and tenderly open the lid. A ghost smile appears on my face as I see bundles of family albums stuffed in the box. I look through and furrow my brows as I see an unfamiliar one. It had a brown leather cover and seemed old.... I open it and hold my breath as I see most of the pages were torn. I flip through the rest of the book and see them all to be empty.
Why is there a torn and empty album doing here?.... Why does it look so familiar?....
A flash of pain stabs through my head and I gasp while holding my head. Immediately I stuff the book back in and throw it in the closet while shutting it. I breathe out when the pain subsides. When is this going to end? My thoughts were disturbed by the shrill sound of the bell. All the tension from my body is replaced with nervous jitters. I look at a still sleeping Aubrey while shutting the door.
Making my way down the stairs I quickly scribble a note to mom and Aubrey.
Gone with Dante. Might be back late don't wait out. Thanks Aubrey :) - Laura
Sticking it on the fridge I finally make my way to the door. Taking a deep breath I pull the door open to reveal an imitation of a Greek God. Standing there I almost let my jaw hang open. Dante stood with his hands in the pocket of his formal wear clothes. He had a white shirt that clinged onto his body while a black coat on top and a formal black pant to finish the look off. He had styled his hair for once and the the sunset made it look like his skin was glowing.
I look at his face to see it tinted with a shade of pink. He was still looking me up and down. Was I undressed?... He kept fidgeting on his foot and I smirked. He's nervous?... That's cute.
He finally looks back at my face to see me smirking. Almost instantly he composes himself.
"You look cute Dante" I state. He raises a brow at this.
"Cute?.." I nod smiling. He puts his hands to his heart.
"You wound me. I'd prefer the term handsome." I roll my eyes.
"I'd rather stick with cute" I counter. Now it was his turn to roll his eyes. He then bends over, his mouth to my ear level. I freeze. His warm breath fans over my skin and I shudder. I see him smirking from the corner of my eyes, knowing the effect he had over me.
"You look beautiful.." He whispers huskily. My cheeks burn to the point it ached. I cough and pull back.
I gesture towards his attire. "What's up with the formal clothing. You told me to wear something casual and here you are dressed as if you're going to someones wedding."
His cheeks heat up. " I didn't have anything casual other than my school clothes and formal wear." I smile. Guess I was not the only one unprepared.
I walk on over and link my arm with his. Pinching his cheek I speak. " That's okay Dante. I was just teasing." If not before his cheeks tint a darker shade of pink. Swatting my hand away he grumbles and walk over to his car. I snicker at him.
Looking back he raises a brow. "Coming?" I nod and walk on over. He open the car door and bows.
"Mi lady." I smile and play along. Bending over I do my best imitation of a curtsy.
"Why thanks you. Such a gentlemen." Walking past him I slide in, but not before seeing a genuine smile pull up on his lips. Closing the door he jogs to his side of the car and slides in. Turning the car back to life he drifts out of the driveway and drives off.
I keep fidgeting in my seat while I stare at the passing figures. We've been driving for an hour and I was at my limit of patience. It wasn't like I hadn't tried to break Dante, but he was hard at a fuckin rock and wouldn't budge. The houses had transformed into trees and we were surrounded by a series of forests.
Finally he stops. Killing the car he gets out while walking over to my door. Opening it he gives me a cheeky smile. I smile back. He holds me hands and leads me towards the forest. He then suddenly takes a right turn and stops in front of a bundle of vines. I stare in awe as he brushes them aside to reveal a trail path leading into the forest.
He goes on forward and turns around, outreaching his hand towards me.
"Come on." I smile and take his hand.
